Eight Rwandan children say goodbye to their families and embark on a mission to seek high-risk heart surgery in Sudan. The children's hearts have grown weak and frail after battling a childhood disease. Their hearts are growing weaker by the day, and within only a few months they will be dead without the surgery. The success of this mission is critical if the children are to return home to their families.
Open Heart watches as the only government cardiologist in Sudan, Dr. Emmanuel, battles to save the lives of the children. While the children fight to stay alive, Head Surgeon Dr. Gino struggles to save the hospital.
