A sequel to the 2017 movie A Dog's Purpose, A Dog's Journey is based on the 2012 book written by W. Bruce Cameron.
Having been reunited with Ethan (Dennis Quaid), Bailey (Josh Gad) is living a happy life on a Michigan farm with Ethan and Ethan’s wife Hannah (Marg Helgenberger). He loves his new playmate: Ethan and Hannah’s young granddaughter, CJ, especially when she sneaks him bacon during meals.
When CJ’s mom takes the girl away, the old dog misses her. Ethan, realizing Bailey's soul is preparing to leave this life for a new one, asks Bailey to find CJ and protect her. Reborn as a puppy, Bailey finds himself as CJ's dog, and shares in her adventures with her best friend Trent. No matter how many lives it takes, Bailey makes sure to seek CJ out each time to take care of her.
