Born: February 15, 1995

Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, known professionally as Megan Thee Stallion, was born in San Antonio, Texas, before moving shortly afterward to Houston. She adopted the stage name "Megan Thee Stallion" after being called a "stallion" during her adolescence due to her height of 5 feet 10 inches.

Megan was raised in the recording studio. Her mother, Holly Thomas, was a rapper who went by the stage name Holly-Wood. Megan began writing her own music at age 14, using her mother's instrumentals to create original songs. When Megan gained the courage to show her mother her work at age 18, her mother urged her to wait until she was older, stating that her lyrics were too mature for someone so young.

Following this advice, Megan attended college after high school and graduated in 2021 from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration. During her time at university, she began uploading freestyle videos on social media, which gradually gained popularity and led to a record deal with 1501 Certified Entertainment while she was still in school.

On January 22, 2019, Megan released "Big Ole Freak" as a single from her album Tina Snow, which became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 65. Since then, her career has skyrocketed with collaborations with Beyoncé, Chance the Rapper, and Ariana Grande.

She coined the viral term "Hot Girl Summer" from her mixtape Fever. Later, she released a single inspired by the trend, "Hot Girl Summer" featuring Nicki Minaj, which peaked at number 11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. In 2020, Megan was shot by fellow rapper Tory Lanez, leading to a multi-year legal battle that resulted in Lanez being sentenced to 10 years in prison.

In 2026, Megan made her Broadway debut as Jess Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, a role that has traditionally been played by males.
