Weapons creeps into first place at weekend box office

Weapons crept into the first place spot in its first weekend of release with Freakier Friday close behind. Here are the other films that made up this weekend's top five box office spots. ~Erin Grace

Weapons debuted at top of the box office in its first weekend of release taking in $42.5 million. The psychological thriller follows a shaken small town after 17 out of 18 children from the same class mysteriously vanish.

Freakier Friday, the highly anticipated body-swap Disney sequel, landed in second place this weekend taking in $29 million in its first weekend of release.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps has Marvel's "first family" slipping into the third spot at the box office this weekend with the film taking in $15.5 million in its third weekend for a three-week total of $230.4 million.

The Bad Guys 2 secured the fourth place spot at the weekend box office, taking in $10.4 million in its second weekend of release for a two-week total of $43.4 million.

The Naked Gun, the reboot of the beloved '80s comedy franchise starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson earned $8.3 million in its second weekend of release for a two-week total of $33 million.
