Venom: The Last Dance tops weekend box officeTwo new movies that opened on Friday made the top five at the weekend box office.

Venom: The Last Dance starring Tom Hardy debuted in the top spot, taking in a total of $51 million, significantly short of expectations.

Smile 2 starring Naomi Scott as a global pop sensation dropped a spot to second place, earning an additional $9.5 million for a two-week total of $40.8 million.

The Wild Robot slid a place to No. 3 this weekend, garnering another $6.8 million for a five-week total of $111.4 million.

Debuting in fourth with $6.6 million was the intriguing new thriller Conclave starring Ralph Fiennes as a Catholic Cardinal who is met with road blocks and catastrophes when the Pope dies. Click here to read our review.

Rounding out the top five this weekend was the romantic drama We Live in Time, starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, earning $4.8 million in its third weekend for a total of $11.8 million.
