The new action film Twisters started strong at the weekend box office, knocking two-time champ Despicable Me 4 from the top spot.
Twisters starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Anthony Ramos and Glen Powell topped the box office this weekend, making a strong debut with $80.5 million.
Despicable Me 4 starring the voice of Steve Carell dropped a spot to second place, earning an additional $23.8 million for a three-week domestic total of $259.5 million.
Inside Out 2 held onto its spot at third, taking in another $12.8 million for an outstanding six-week domestic haul of $597 million.
The horror movie Longlegs, starring Maika Monroe as an FBI agent and Nicolas Cage as a serial killer, dropped two spots to fourth from its second place debut last weekend, earning an additional $11.7 million for a two-week total of $44.7 million.
Rounding out the top five was A Quiet Place: Day One starring Lupita Nyong'o as a woman caught in an alien invasion in NYC. It took in another $6.1 million for a four-week domestic total of $127.6 million. Click here to read our review.
