TIFF returns for its 50th star-studded year!

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) returns to Toronto on September 4, 2025 to celebrate its 50th year with a sparkling lineup of world premieres and international talent. This year's Gala and Special Presentations programs will spotlight new films from Aziz Ansari, Maude Apatow, Romain Gavras, Alice Winocour, and more. Canadian director Anne Émond’s Peak Everything is set to be this year's Closing Night Gala which will take place on the last night of the Festival on Saturday, September 13th.

Among the most anticipated world premieres are Aziz Ansari's directorial debut Good Fortune, starring Seth Rogen and Keanu Reeves; Maude Apatow's Poetic License, Isabel Coixet's Three Goodbyes, and David Michôd’s Christy. The lineup also features big-name directors like Yeon Sang-Ho (The Ugly), James Vanderbilt (Nuremberg), and Alice Winocour (Couture). The Festival will run from September 4th to 14th, 2025.

TIFF is one of the most prestigious and largest publicly attended film festivals in the world, making it Canada's biggest film festival every year. Expect Canadian stories and talent to shine and demand attention, with Anne Émond’s Peak Everything earning the prestigious Closing Night Gala slot, to other movies from Canadian directors being in the circuit such as Ally Pankiw's Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery, Lisa Rideout's Degrassi: Whatever It Takes, and Tasha Hubbard's Meadowlarks. This lineup showcases the range of homegrown talent that are joining TIFF's global stage.

This year's slate includes over 30 countries, spanning genres and storytelling styles. Other notable entries include Frankensteinfrom Guillermo Del Toro with a star-studded cast including Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz. Additionally notable entries are Scarlet from Mamoru Hosoda, The Smashing Machine by Benny Safdie, and EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert from Baz Luhrmann following the success of his film Elvis (2022).
