Two new films made it into the top five, including the animated movie The Wild Robot, featuring the voices of Lupita Nyong'o, Pedro Pascal, Bill Nighy, Catherine O'Hara and Mark Hamill.
The Wild Robot, a heartwarming tale about a robot who is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island, debuted at the top of the weekend box office with $35 million -- making it the third best September opening for an animated movie.
After enjoying three weekends at the top, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega dropped a spot to second, taking in an additional $16 million for an outstanding total of $250.1 million. Click here to read our review.
The animated movie Transformers One also dropped a spot this weekend, landing in third place. It earned an extra $9.3 million for a two-week total of $39.2 million.
The Indian action saga Devara: Part 1 debuted in fourth, taking in a total of $5.1 million.
Dropping two spots to round out the top five was the horror thriller Speak No Evil, starring James McAvoy. It earned another $4.3 million for a three-week total of $28.1 million.
