The Exorcist: Believer reigned at the weekend box office, scaring away competition such as the PAW Patrol pups. The new horror film took in $27.2 million during its opening weekend.
Dropping to second was last weekend's No. 1 movie -- the animated film PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, which took in another $11.8 million for a two-week total of $38.9 million.
The gory horror movie Saw X dropped a spot to third, earning an additional $8.2 million in its second weekend for a total of $32.6 million.
The sci-fi film The Creator starring John David Washington took in $6.1 million for a two-week total of $24.9 million.
Rounding out the top five was The Blind. The true story of the Robertson family of Duck Dynasty fame earned an additional $3.1 million for a domestic total take of $10.5 million.
