Scotty McCreery was at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, Colorado on Saturday, August 24 when he introduced his next song onstage, telling the audience that it's his wife's favorite. He had just begun to sing the first line when he suddenly stopped, shouting, "Hey, hey, hey!" He pointed at the audience and said, "That's a lady you just hit, sir!"
He called for police and security to come and take action. The crowd began to cheer and Scotty asked, "Is she okay?" He then told the man, "Get the heck out of here."
As the authorities tried to reach the man, Scotty said, "On God's green Earth. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?" Scotty, a Christian, was 17 when he won the 10th season of American Idol. As the police searched for the individual, he told the audience, "Y'all let the cop know who hit the lady 'cause that’s absolutely unacceptable."
Audience members in the front were pointing in the man's direction and the police were finally able to get to him. As he was being led away, Scotty said, "You got him? Are we good down there? Are you all good Colorado?" He received whoops of admiration and applause for his efforts.
Scotty had some last words for the alleged offender, saying, "Whoever you are, that's the position of a coward -- hitting a lady. Get the heck out of here, man." He then resumed the song.
The identities of the man and woman have not been made public and it's unclear if the man was arrested, but the incident is still under investigation. ~Alexandra Heilbron
I always liked him on American Idol. What a great guy.
Well done
Yes, I remember watching him on TV when I was visiting Texas...think it was 2010...very nice guy who has American values of decency. Go Scotty!
Great job!
Well done! Now if people would stand up for abused woman every day instead of blaming them for the criminals crimes it would be a much better world.
Good job Scotty!! more people should do this.... and tell us what happened after the police took him away
I LOVE this young man & attended his concert in Washington State. May our Lord continue to Bless Scotty & his families. His parents raised him well ??
Note: at the end of my last sentence should have been exclamation points vice question marks.
We really needed Scotty in Section 60 the other day.
Scotty is what I would call a real man! Sticking up for what is the right thing to do and not pretending that he didn't see it. Just hope the offender was total lesson, but those types of people usually never do.
Good job Scotty!! more people should do this.... and tell us what happened after the police took him away
