Salma Hayek married French businessman François-Henri Pinault on Valentine's Day in 2009, but she has now revealed to Glamour Magazine that she didn't know she was being married until the morning of February 14, when she was "dragged" to the courthouse.
She and Pinault started dating in April 2006 and Salma gave birth to their daughter, Paloma Pinault, on September 21, 2007. However, Salma admits she had a phobia of marriage, so her family "ganged up" on her. "It was because I had said yes to the marriage, but I just wouldn’t actually show up on the day or do it."
She told the magazine, "I didn’t even know I was getting married that day. It was like an intervention. I don’t think I ever told this story.... they just took me to the court. My parents, my brother, they were all ganging up on me. I had a phobia of the marriage thing. The reason it was a courthouse wedding was because they dragged me there. I was nervous."
However, the ceremony went off without a hitch, and afterwards, "There was a lunch at his parents’ house. My mother-in-law, who’s the most tasteful person when it comes to entertaining, had already been doing the lunch. I had no choice."
After the wedding, she realized, "Oh, it’s okay. I don’t feel any different. And then a little bit later I said, ‘Okay, this is kind of exciting.’ And he’s like, ‘Can we have a party now?’”
In April 2009, they threw a weekend celebration in Venice with friends such as as Stella McCartney, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz in attendance. The weekend included a masquerade ball-style rehearsal dinner, then a romantic ceremony at La Fenice opera house.
The marriage is still going strong 14 years later. Salma told Glamour, "I married a man who is very supportive, who saw things in me that I never even saw in myself."
Salma can next be seen starring opposite Channing Tatum on the big screen in Magic Mike's Last Dance, which opens this Friday (February 10, 2023) in theaters. ~Alexandra Heilbron
OMG!! That is SO GROSS!! That guy should be her GRANDFATHER!! --- NOT her husband!! EWWWWW!!! How can anybody be so stupid as to be "dragged" to a wedding they don't want!! This nummy num has NO backbone --- which is also the reason she is still in the marriage --- no backbone to stand up to him OR TO HER PUSHY, INTERFERING FAMILY!!!! I just can't respect her at all -- she'd be much better off to keep this information a secret!
didn't you know that love has no age difference if its there its there you cant control it but here yes we are talking about movie stars and that sort of bends the rules quiet a bit its not always marriage for love but for other reasons that only the ones getting married must know because HELL I sure don't, short live their marriage CONGRATS for whatever is worth
For the people commenting on the age…. If a four year age difference 🤣 there is zero way he could be her grandfather. As someone who was scared of married age well, I often say I was ‘dragged’ to the chapel. I wasn’t. It’s a joke. And being married is the best decision I’ve made. People need to get a grip, seriously, do they think she actually would have been forced into marriage? She has lots of ways out and would have left before now if she truly had been dragged into marriage. Calm down.
He’s only 60 and she’s 56. She had a baby with him before they got married. His father is worth over 40 billion. Pretty smart lady if you ask me :)
I think everyone should just mind there own business. You can't buy love or happiness no matter what age a person is. So congrats to the both of them and also for the marriage lasting so long. It is so easy to be happy for someone instead of being negative and commenting on something they know nothing about. May your love last forever. In our society it is so unfortunate that we are judged from the outside instead of looking at the inside which really counts.
Terry, what are you talking about! A four year age difference is nothing. Why would you say he could be her grandfather? Total nonsense.
Salma has Always been known to make smart choices, is very intelligent and as a Producer, director, actor, with great beauty is obviously caring, planning for self and family.
That’s a great story! She such a wonderful actress and so funny and kind and beautiful:) Her husband sounds like a great guy.
I didn't read about their ages, just saw the photo. You're right, he couldn't be her grandfather -- he just LOOKS like he is. And yes, I would think a future 40 billion dollar inheritance would make putting up with some fat old thing worth while. When I see an old man with a young partner if makes me sick to my stomach. This photo made me feel ill when I saw it. She is so tiny I think he'd kill her if he rolled over on her. When I was a kid I had a fat old horny lecher for a grandfather forever groping at me, so for me -- age does matter. Seeing such couples together with such an age difference makes me nauseous. Tina --- if everyone should just mind their own business they wouldn't make public statements & stories like this --- and if you minded your own business you wouldn't have read it.
Do they draw on the walls of their cave?
