The new sci-fi drama Mercy starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson debuted at the top of the weekend box office, earning $11.2 million.
After five weekends in first place, Avatar: Fire and Ash dropped one spot to second, taking in an additional $7 million for a total of $378.5 million.
Zootopia 2, featuring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, remained in third place, earning an extra $5.7 million for a nine-week total of $401.4 million.
Ginnifer Goodwin reveals how Zootopia 2 came about, nine years after the original. She discusses the new characters, including the beaver Nibbles Maplestick and a koala voiced by Robert Irwin. She also reveals what she thought was the coolest thing about having the cast meet in person.
The intriguing thriller The Housemaid starring Sydney Sweeney held onto fourth place in its sixth weekend at the box office, taking in an additional $4.2 million for a total of $115.5 million.
Rounding out the top five was 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple starring Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell, earning another $3.6 million for a two-week total of $20.8 million.
