Eternals follows a group of ancient immortals imbued with powers such as super strength, flight, teleportation, mind control, shape-shifting and energy projection. After the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), the Eternals are forced out of the shadows, where they prefer to watch humanity thrive on its own, to reunite and fight against the Deviants, an antagonizing force of evil superhumans. Set in an unfamiliar dystopic landscape, the film looks to be a change of pace from Marvel's typical urban setting.
According to information from San Diego Comic-Con, Eternals will focus on Sersi (Gemma Chan) and Ikaris (Richard Madden), two of the more prominent immortals whose relationship appears more than once in the trailer.
Eternals also stars Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjian, and Lauren Ridloff. It is directed by Chloé Zhao, who won an Oscar for Nomadland (2020) in April 2021.
Eternals is scheduled to hit theaters on November 5, 2021. ~Cassandra Coleman
