Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry in Friends

Lisa Kudrow will always keep Matthew Perry in her memories. During a guest appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Kudrow revealed that she recently discovered a note from her late co-star in a cookie jar. It was something Perry had gifted her following the completion of Friends in 2004. Kudrow would not disclose the content of the letter but said that "timing is everything."

The reveal came following a question from Drew regarding whether Lisa had taken any props from the set. While pondering the question, Drew wondered whether it was the cookie jar clock.

"Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode," Lisa admitted. "I had recently found the note that he had in it for me. I hadn't opened it up or looked inside of it. But yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it. Timing is everything."

The cookie jar clock, which had been prominently featured in the season 8 episode "The One With the Cooking Class," had become a reminder of their friendship. In a 2020 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kudrow said that upon the receival of the gift she and Perry were "laughing hysterically and crying because it was the end."

Lisa and Matthew, along with their Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox and David Schwimmer, were on television together for 236 episodes that spanned 10 years on NBC. Perry died on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54 after an autopsy revealed the cause of death to be from the acute effects of ketamine.

Following his death Lisa took to Instagram for a tribute. "Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face EVERY DAY," she said. "Thank you for showing up at work when you weren't well and then, being completely brilliant. Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you. Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew." ~Ryan Donohue
