M. Night Shyamalan’s new horror movie, Knock at the Cabin, debuted in the top spot at the weekend box office, finally unseating Avatar: The Way of Water after its seven weekend-long reign.
Knock at the Cabin starring Dave Bautista and Jonathan Groff opened in first place, earning $14.2 million. Despite his previous films earning more during their opening weekends, this marks Shyamalan's seventh film to debut in the top spot.
The new comedy 80 for Brady starring Sally Field, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Rita Moreno debuted in second place, with a total of $12.5 million.
In its eighth weekend, Avatar: The Way of Water starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana was knocked down to third place, raking in an additional $10.8 million for a total domestic take of $636.4 million.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish dropped from second to fourth. The animated film, featuring the voice of Antonio Banderas, took in an extra $8 million, earning a seven-week total of $151.3 million.
Rounding out the top five was BTS: Yet to Come in Cinemas. The K-pop boy band's concert film earned $4.4 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
