During an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, British actress Kate Beckinsale told a story about her daughter's boyfriend laying eggs. Her daughter, Lily Sheen, 26, has a boyfriend (whom Kate didn't name), and Kate said that when he laid two eggs in one week, it was a "bright spot" for her after her beloved mother died from cancer in July.
Jimmy, obviously confused, asked if this was a British thing, but Kate clarified that the young man is from New Jersey. Kate said she was skeptical of the boyfriend's claims as well, thinking he was trying to seek attention. She told Jimmy, "I was like, ‘OK, you’re trying to pull focus off the cancer.’ But it had a shell and a yolk."
She went on to say, "Not out of his mouth or ears, it came out the route it would come out a hen… He went to the bathroom and then was very surprised to find that he had laid an egg."
Jimmy quipped, "Are you sure it wasn’t one of his testicles?"
Kate replied "No," and went on to describe it, explaining, "The first time it happened, he was genuinely scared and he was like, 'It's got a full shell, it's got a yolk.' He crushed it to see what was inside" and discovered "a yolk… like a hard-boiled one kind of cooked inside him."
She added that a week later, as her daughter was flying home to New York, she sent Kate a text that read, "OMG OMG OMG he's done it again and now he's really freaking out."
Jimmy, completely astounded by this story, asked, "Did you believe him when he said this?"
Kate replied, "Well, I did, because he was so scared." She did ask him, "Are you putting eggs up your bottom?" She went on to say, "I think it's quite hard to put an egg up your bottom and then get it out whole without injuring the egg."
She had photos that the boyfriend sent to her phone and showed Jimmy, but didn't want to share them with the audience. The moment Jimmy saw the first one, he looked shocked and said, "What in the world?"
Kate wrapped up the story by saying, "It's my favorite thing he's ever done and I really like him anyway... I think he's the real deal."
Jimmy thanked her for sharing the story, "especially around the holidays." '
One social media user commented on YouTube: "She knows exactly what she's doing here. She's either had a bet with someone to talk this nonsense or she's just on a proper wind-up."
Another said: "Jimmy knew this interview was off the rails and just went along with it… I love him for that."
Yet another commented: "The boyfriend enjoyed pranking his girlfriend’s wacky mother so much, he did it twice. That is my take on this nutty story."
