Did you know that Jonny Harris, who has become beloved around the world for his role as Constable George Crabtree in Murdoch Mysteries, has his own award-winning show? Called Still Standing, it involves Jonny traveling around Canada to small communities that have something special to feature.
While there, Jonny talks to locals, experiences their heritage and takes part in their activities. Each show takes five to six days to film and at the end of the week, Jonny gives a stand-up show for the community that's written especially for them, about his week there. Sometimes he even writes a poem detailing his experience. The stand-up show is around 40 to 45 minutes in its entirety, and Jonny writes it and memorizes it within six days, although only about 10 minutes of it ends up in the series.
If you're a big fan of Murdoch Mysteries, you may have noticed that Jonny is sometimes missing from an episode. No need to worry, he just sometimes needs extra time for Still Standing, especially now that Murdoch Mysteries has so many episodes to work on each year.
The 11th season of Still Standing airs a new episode each Tuesday on CBC, but you can watch all the episodes and seasons on CBC Gem whenever you want. If you're in the U.S., you can watch it on streaming services that carry Canadian content, including Amazon Prime Video, Hoopla, Tubi, and Pluto TV.
