Johnny Depp thanked his fans for their support during his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard by joining TikTok and posting his first video.
Depp already has 8.8 million followers on the platform and the number keeps growing by the hour. His first post is a montage of clips from his European tour with Jeff Beck, paired with a poetic message in the caption.
“To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared,” he wrote.
He finished the statement, “And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD.”
A spokesperson for Amber Heard responded, “As Johnny Depp says he’s ‘moving forward,’ women’s rights are moving backward. The verdict’s message to victims of domestic violence is ... be afraid to stand up and speak out.”
The jury awarded $15 million in damages to Depp, finding that Heard defamed him three times in her 2018 Washington Post article. The jury also awarded Heard $2 million in damages for comments made by Depp’s 2020 lawyer Adam Waldman.
The verdict comes 19 months after he lost his 2020 libel suit against the British tabloid The Sun for headlines calling him a "wife-beater." A London judge determined that the outlet’s claims were “substantially true.” Depp attempted to overturn the decision in March 2021 but was denied.
Heard plans to appeal the 2022 verdict, meaning this may not be the end of the defamation trial -- turned media phenomenon. ~Megan Parsons
I don’t get it that the trial was even allowed to continue in light of the number of false statements made by Ms. Heard. Is the court going to follow through with perjury charges? I do not think this trial makes it more difficult for women to speak up about abuse. Ms. Heard hurt her own case. I think the jury carefully answered the specific questions set before them.

Congrats Johnny. As a woman - I was offended by the actions of Amber Heard. She has set a very bad example for all women - young and old. She has shamed us with her lies and false claims of abuse. True abuse victims must be outraged by her conduct. Telling lies to deliberately destroy someone is not what God takes lightly. I hope Hollywood finally realizes that not all claims of abuse or harassment are true.
What woman in her right mind would not seek out medical attention if she thought her privates were cut by a gass bottle? There were too many lies & she obviously lost track of all the one's she told on the stand. I am glad Johnny has a new lease on life. Real victims of domestic abuse, men or women have nothing to fear if truth is on their side. I hope they both get help with any drug/alcohol issues that may still exist or that could lead to their downfall.
Does anyone else cringe from the hypocrisy embedded in statements issued by Ms. Heard and her representatives? It's people like Amber Heard who make REAL victims of abuse/assault afraid to come forward, fearing they won't be believed. Shame on her. Let's hope she instills better morals in her child.
Depp..........hands down.......is a classic woman abuser. He not only LOOKS the part but we all saw the videos of him throwing & slamming things around in their home, very violent actions. As well, there have been many other times he has abused Amber. The courts were only on his side because he has long been a children's hero with his stupid pirate movies. Just shows that fame presides in all cases, the same reason OJ got away with murder. This one sided attitude in the courts has to STOP.

I think Amber's Hollywood career is winding down. I predict that she'll eventually do porn. And I'll likely watch.
If women think our rights have gone backwards, its only because Amber lied so many times on the stand. Women like that are the reason the court ignore the real abuse on women. If she had been truthful the whole time this case would have just proven women abuse men as well. Amber's lies have put women backwards.
I do not understand how people /women think that women's rights are moving backwards because Amber lost in court. Our rights keep move backwards because of stupid crap some women do such as lying about abuse, rape, etc. Our rights are not moving backwards at all. And I for one think Amber should be in jail for committing perjury.
