Two new films landed in the Top 5 at the weekend box office, but neither were able to budge How to Train Your Dragon from the top spot.
How to Train Your Dragon starring Mason Thames as Hiccup and Gerard Butler as Chief Stoick the Vast remained in first place as the Number 1 film of the weekend, earning an extra $37 million for a two-week total of $160.5 million. Click here to read our review.
Debuting in the second spot was the horror sequel 28 Years Later, which took in $30 million in its first weekend.
Disney and Pixar's newest animated film, Elio, debuted in third. About an 11-year-old space fanatic with an active imagination and huge alien obsession, the new release earned $21 million.
Disney's Lilo & Stitch dropped two spots to fourth place, taking in an additional $9.7 million for an outstanding five-week total of $386.7 million.
Rounding out the top five was Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning starring Tom Cruise, which added an extra $6.6 million to its five-week haul for a total of $178.4 million. Click here to read our review.
