George Clooney releases tirade against director Quentin Tarantino

Published By Alexandra Heilbron on Aug 14, 2024

George Clooney in Ticket to Paradise (2022)In a profanity-filled tirade, George Clooney dissed director Quentin Tarantino during an interview with Brad Pitt for GQ magazine. The two were promoting their upcoming film, Wolfs, when Brad Pitt said that Tarantino, who is known more for his directing than his acting, was "good" playing Clooney's brother in the 1996 movie From Dusk Till Dawn.

That set Clooney off, who retorted, "He was okay in it." The mega-star went on to say “Quentin said some s—t about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him."

Clooney further explained, "He was naming movie stars, and he was talking about [Pitt], and somebody else, and then [Deadline columnist Baz Bamigboye] goes, 'Well, what about George?' [Tarantino] goes, he's not a movie star. And then [Tarantino] literally said something like, 'Name me a movie since the millennium.' And I was like, 'Since the millennium? That's kind of my whole [expletive] career.'"

Besides Pitt, Tarantino named Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlize Theron and Denzel Washington when asked which actors he considered to be movie stars. When asked why he didn't include Clooney, he replied, "Well, it’s been a long while since I think George Clooney has drawn anybody to an audience… When was his last hit where he drew an audience?"

Clooney said in the past few years he's been directing and helping raise his seven-year-old twins with his wife, Amal, a human rights attorney.

When his comments about Tarantino caused Pitt, who has worked with the director several times, to burst into laughter, Clooney playfully added, "All right, dude, f—k off. I don’t mind giving him s—t. He gave me s—t."

Good! Oddly enough that's the same sort of thing that happened when Samuel L Jackson was asked QT using the N word and working with him and what about Spike Lee. SLJ said something like when was the last time Spike Lee had a hit. QT gets a pass because of his writing and hits.

THEY'RE ALL A BUNCH OF DIVAS COWARDS.

Ever since I saw George Clooney hanging with Barack Obama, I gave up on him. I mean seriously Barack Obama (is that a good American name. ) That man tried to run our country to the ground. and now we have ch ameleon Kamala who needs a teleprompter to blow her nose.

Get out of here Ray, with your thinly veiled racism. What a dumb comment. Ray is dumb.

With Clooney hanging out with Obama and voicing such loud and blatant public opinions about and TO Biden suggesting he step down I'm wondering if he wants to run for President himself eventually. Not sure how he feels about Kameltoe.

It just other thing on the list of Tarantino stupidity, saying. Clooney not a movie star, the one thing that George has that Quentin doesn't have is class, just look at the type of movies he makes, bloody foul disturbing vindictive type of movies, Tarantino might have unquie style of art house type movies but doesn't make the golden standard of soild opinion on who a movie star or not a movie star, him talking nonsense about Clooney specially when he work with it just a stab in the back, what do expect from a person that makes trash instead of making art that will stand the test of time, see here I can talk crap too but at the end of the day Tarantino opinion is like just a opinion like u know what everybody got one, it means nothing

Hello Americans who left comments. I don’t think you noticed but this site is tribute.ca. As in CA, as in CANADA. So take your racist comments and go back to the American caves you live in. No one up here cares about you, or your stupid opinions. It’s no wonder the rest of the world can’t stand you people.

Clooney has never done any great movies. He is not in the same class as Julia Robert's or Denslzel Washington.

Just because Ray (above) doesn’t like Obama or KAM-UH-LUH doesn’t mean he’s dumb or racist. It’s dumb to assume that or to assume that half the US is racist or—as the American bashing Canadian (above) does—that all of America is racist. Actually, more than half of Americans simply don’t like the radical, Marxist, totalitarian, socialist, economically destructive, and anti-American ideas and policies pushed by the true anti-democracy weirdos like the democratic nominee for U.S. president and her running mate. If “racism” is all you ever talk about or see in others who disagree with you politically you might be the racist, EH?

    Are y'all okay?

This is sick. I'd go see Clooney in a heartbeat before I'd see Tarantino. And the comments about Barack Obama and our soon to be, it's about time, first woman president who's biracial Kamala are disgusting. And that comment was made by a woman. Hey guys we've had enough with the badmouthing and garbage . Go back to just accepting and supporting.

QT is smart and QT is correct. Flooney is not in the same class as those mentioned. Other than Oh Brother Where Art Thou and The Perfect Storm name another good movie, none are great, that he was included ? He never was a good actor. He sucked in ER and is a washed up average actor. Go away.

I do not think that those two people give a rats ass what you think of them!!!

Name another good movie that Clooney has done? Okay, OUT OF SIGHT was great, but no he doesn't have a long list of great films. Very few actors do. I thought Clooney had retired from the movies since TOMORROWLAND flopped. All I've seen him in lately is those coffee commercials. Tarantino likes to run his mouth and he's pissed a lot of people off. No wonder he liked Robert Blake, a violent hot-headed loud-mouthed actor who had talent but had much more in the way of bad attitude.

This is not Black and White to me...and I'm not referring to race.

Ray’s comment has little merit - I’m not an Obama fan, but how does “an American name” reflect a person’s character? The entirety of this country, excluding Native Americans, are from different countries. This may be straw-manning, but I’d assume the majority of most serial killers in the US have stereotypical “American names”. I’m not against anyone arguing about Obama, but I’m also not for non-sensical arguments.

Pardon me, Lea, but "you people" sounds a little bigoted to me, particularly since you are applying it in an assessment of actors and directors of whom many in the world at large watch (not I, to be transparent). Are you privy to what the rest of the world thinks? Are you personally acquainted with 350 million people? You are making what would be classified as a "hasty generalization", based on incomplete and personally influenced information. Despite the limited cross-section of Americans who post on this site, there are significant numbers who are intelligent, discerning, and who express valid conclusions. Unfortunately, our "leaders" are not among them, but to denigrate an entire population of very diverse people is egregious. It is tantamount to regarding all Canadians as being accurately depicted as lumberjacks or hockey players who pronounce things unusually and consume poutine and maple syrup in prodigious quantities. You would be offended, were I to insinuate such, would you not? Then it might be useful, in all fairness, to offer your opinions thoughtfully.

Qt is allowed his opinion as is george clooney. It’s their’s and really none of our business. The terrible anger over what each said is really irrelevant. It doesn’t make a difference. We are wasting time with vitriolic texts that don’t mean a thing to anyone but ourselves. The world is in a serious situation. We should spend our energy on being better Americans and caring for our families and neighbors. Supporting this country that is your home. Watch a movie star jimmy stewart in an old movie called meet john doe. Maybe a little hoky but it has the right idea. Don’t waste time writing mean things back. I m just putting my personal opinion out there. God bless you today and always

QT made a movie with Clooney in 2000. Since then, George did the Ocean movies, several dramatic pieces, and voice work. But to answer QT's question, he was in Gravity with Sandra Bullock. He played a big part in that movie and it wouldn't have worked without him. He has also produced, directed, and wrote several movies. I don't understand why everyone thinks that there is one definition of a movie star. The definition is in the eye of the beholder. QT believes that the 70's was the golden era of movies and gets alot of his inspiration from that time. That's cool. I think that the 90's was a good decade myself. But there is no one definition of actor and prestige. George was on the Facts of Life (sitcom). He is now a household name decades later. He's successful. He still makes movies. People still go to see him. There is no debate on this...in my opinion.

I use to like George Clooney but I’m kind of done with all the weirdo’s in Hollywood. With them for the most part I really think most of them (not all) are very insecure with themselves as they constantly need to be in limelight to be validated by who they are seen with. What an unfortunate and unremarkable way to live. I’ll admit back when I was a teenager movie stars were quite special but now I’m so over it. I’m not lumping everyone together either. I think that much of them have to seen and heard to so that they validate themselves. That must be extremely exhausting but they’re use to it. Someone I met who was associated with a famous person said that most of them are very sensitive and insecure because it’s all about them. I feel very blessed that I can go out in public and not have people staring at me ect. I’m comfortable in my own skin and I absolutely love my privacy!!
