Two new films landed in the Top 5 at the weekend box office, with one taking over the top spot from two-time champ How to Train Your Dragon.
F1: The Movie starring Brad Pitt as a FORMULA 1 racer debuted in the top spot this weekend, beating expectations with $55.6 million.
How to Train Your Dragon starring Mason Thames as Hiccup and Gerard Butler as Chief Stoick the Vast dropped to second, but took in another $19.4 million for an impressive three-week total of $200.1 million. Click here to read our review.
Disney and Pixar's newest animated film, Elio, stayed in third place. About an 11-year-old space fanatic with an active imagination, it added another $10.7 million for a two-week total of $42.2 million.
Debuting in fourth place was the horror movie sequel M3GAN 2.0 starring Allison Williams as M3GAN’s creator Gemma. The sequel earned a disappointing $10.2 million.
Rounding out the top five was another horror sequel, 28 Years Later, which took in another $9.7 million for a two-week domestic total of $50.4 million.
