Downton Abbey costumes, hats and props up for auction

Now that Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale - the third movie in the trilogy following the six-season series - has finished filming, Bonhams is auctioning off many of the props and costumes used in the series and films.

The online auction has already begun and will run to September 16, 2025. Some of the most interesting lots include tge white metal mounted walking cane used by Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham (Dame Maggie Smith), which was estimated to bring in £500 - £800 (US $673 to $1076) but already has a bid of US $4,574.

The costumes of many of the main characters, including Lady Mary, Lady Edith, Lady Sybil, Lady Cora, Anna Bates, John Bates, Daisy, Mrs. Patmore, Mrs. Hughes, Mr. Carson and Lord Grantham are included, sometimes in lots of three costumes at once. Other lots include the highly anticipated bell wall found in the servants' quarters, which is estimated to bring in £5,000 - £7,000 and has a current bid of £4,600 (US $6,188.95).

Also included is Mr. Carson's pocket watch, chairs from the servants' quarters, a George III oak dresser, tables, butlers' trays, Mrs. Hughes' and Mr. Carson's keys, lady's maid props, doors knobs and light switches, game props from the servants' hall, cooking pots and utensils, 34 square linen napkins, phones, a wine rack, gloves and shoes worn by the ladies, a large Victorian oak and brass dinner gong (late 19th / early 20th century) acquired for the third film, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, and much more.
