One out of the top five movies was a new one that debuted Friday, but although predictions had HIM debuting in first place, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle held on, beating out the newcomers to retain the top position at the weekend box office. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle held onto the top spot for the second weekend in a row, earning an extra $17.3 million for a two-week total of $104.7 million.
HIM, about a quarterback who's injured when he's attacked by an unhinged fan, debuted in secibd place at the weekend box office, taking in $13.5 million.
The Conjuring: Last Rites starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga dropped one spot to third, scaring up an extra $13 million for a three-week total of $151.2 million.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, the last film of the beloved series set in England with a large cast of characters, slid to fourth place, taking in an additional $6.3 million for a two-week total of $31.6 million.
The Long Walk, a thriller about 100 boys in a competition who are forced to walk or be shot to death until only one of them is left, tied for fourth place, also earning $6.3 million, for a two-week total of $22.7 million.
Sony's new romantic fantasy, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey starring Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie, came in far behind with a debut of $3.5 million.
