After being the weekend box office champion for four weeks in a row, Barbie was pushed to second place by Blue Beetle, starring Cobra Kai's Xolo Maridueña. The film, based on the DC superhero comics character Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, debuted to the tune of $25 million domestically.
In second place, Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, earned an additional $21 million for a five-week total of $566.8 million.
Dropping one spot to third was Oppenheimer starring Cillian Murphy, earning another $10.7 million for a five-week total of $285.4 million.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem came in fourth this weekend, taking in an extra $8.5 million for a three-week total of $88.2 million.
Rounding out the top five was the new animated film Strays featuring the voices of Will Ferrell and Jamie Foxx with a domestic take of $8.2 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
