With the next big blockbuster, Avatar: The Way of Water, not releasing until next weekend, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever remained on top at the box office for the fifth weekend in a row, earning an additional $11.1 million for a total of $409.8 million.
In fact, all releases from last weekend retained their positions. Violent Night starring David Harbour as Santa stayed in second place, taking in an extra $8.7 million for a two-week total of $26.7 million.
The Disney film Strange World held onto third with a take of $3.6 million in its third weekend, for a total of $30.5 million.
The Menu, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicholas Hoult and Ralph Fiennes, earned another $2.7 million for a four-week total of $29 million.
Rounding out the top five was Devotion, about two U.S. Navy fighter pilots during the Korean War. It took in an additional $2 million for a three-week total of $16.9 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
