Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega scored a huge $110 million in its opening weekend, making it the second-biggest September debut of all time (behind only fellow Warner Bros. release IT in 2017 with $123 million) and the year's third-best opening, after Deadpool & Wolverine ($211.4 million) and Inside Out 2 ($154.2 million). The aforementioned hit Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman was pushed to second, with a drastic drop in earnings in its seventh week. It took in $7.2 million for a total domestic take of $614 million.

The biopic Reagan, starring Dennis Quaid as former U.S. President Ronald Reagan climbed a spot to third in its second weekend, earning another $5.2 million for a total of $18.5 million.

Alien: Romulus dropped two spots to fourth, taking in an additional $3.9 million for a four-week take of $97.2 million, just shy of the coveted $100 million mark.

Rounding out the top five was It Ends with Us starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover. It earned $3.8 million more for a total of $141.4 million. Click here to read our review.
