Assassin's Creed trailer showcases ripped Michael Fassbender

Published By Tribute on May 12, 2016

Since news broke that the action-adventure video game Assassin's Creed would be adapted into a feature film of the same name, fans have been buzzing with excitement.

Premiering last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and lighting up the internet today, the electrifying first trailer for the big-budget, star-studded picture teases eager audiences.

The film features Michael Fassbender in a dual role, playing Callum Lynch and Aguilar, blood relatives living hundreds of years apart and connected through sci-fi technology. Callum learns that his ancestor, Aguilar, lived during 15th Century Spain and was a member of a mysterious secret society called the Assassins. He gleans useful knowledge about his predecessor and acquires the necessary skills to confront the onerous superpower called the Templar organization in the present day. Michael clearly spent some time in the gym in order to take on the double duties of his sharp, swift and strapping characters.

Michael reteams with his Macbeth costar Marion Cotillard in the film, which also features Brendan Gleeson and Jeremy Irons. It's directed by Australian Justin Kurzel, who brought Macbeth to the screen in 2015.

Assassin's Creed hits theaters December 21, 2016.
