The 97th Oscars have begun at the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. If you haven't already done so, click here to download our printable Oscar Nominees Score Sheet and check them off as you go. We'll be updating this list live as the winners are announced, so please keep refreshing. The show kicked off with Ariana Grande singing "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz, followed by her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo singing "Home" from the musical The Wiz. The two then joined together to perform a medley from their hit movie Wicked.
Host Conan O’Brien was described as a "four-time Oscar viewer" as he made his appearance onstage. He performed a hilarious monologue, culminating in his pointing out Adam Sandler incredibly underdressed, wearing a hoodie and basketball shorts in the audience. Conan then did a silly song and dance called "I Won't Waste Time," with movie characters joining him. Later on during the show, he announced that over one billion people are watching the ceremony around the world.
The first award of the night was given out by Robert Downey Jr. to the winner of the Best Actor in a Supporting Role -- Kieran Culkin for A Real Pain. This is Kieran's first Oscar nomination and first win.
Goldie Hawn and Andrew Garfield announced Flow as the winner of the Best Animated Feature. This is a night for firsts -- so far every winner is a first timer and not only that, Paul Tazewell just became the first Black man to win in the Costume Design category, for Wicked.
The firsts continue with the screenplay categories. Paul Baker won his first Oscar for the Original Screenplay, Anora; and Peter Straughan is a first-time winner in the Adapted Screenplay category for Conclave.
Last year's Best Supporting Actress winner, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, presented this year's winner, Zoe Saldaña, with her first Oscar for her work in Emila Pérez.
The "In Memoriam" section began with Morgan Freeman paying tribute to Gene Hackman, who was found dead this past week but is now believed to have died February 17. The video of all the Academy members who passed away in the past year ended with Hackman as well. Quick work on behalf of the Academy.
It's finally time for the biggest awards of the night. Cillian Murphy has walked onstage to present the award to the Best Actor in a Leading Role winner -- and it is Adrien Brody for The Brutalist! Quentin Tarantino announced the winner of the Directing category -- Sean Baker, who just won his third Oscar of the night for Anora. Although Demi Moore was the favorite to win Best Actress in a Leading Role for The Substance, the award went to Mikey Madison for Anora. And though the Best Picture was expected to go to either Conclave or The Brutalist, Anora won the big award, bringing the film's total number of awards to five, out of six nominations.
