Aydin (Haluk Bilginer), a wealthy, retired actor, lives in a mountain village in rural Turkey. He owns a hotel where he lives with his wife Nihal, as well as a number of nearby houses and businesses. He also writes a weekly newspaper column.
However, he's an arrogant man who is indifferent to the suffering around him, including the extreme poverty of his tenants. Nihal, who busies herself with philanthropic enterprises, considers him unbearable — judgmental, stingy and misanthropic. She's so tired of him that she's considering divorce. For the sake of his marriage, Ayden decides to retire to Istanbul for the winter and during this time, the decisions he and his wife make have humorous and wrenching consequences.
