Abdallah, a teenage boy, returns from overseas to the Mauritanian coastal fishing village of Nouadhibou, where he stays with his mother while preparing to set out again for Europe. He has difficulties adapting because he isn’t able to speak his native tongue. However, he observes with increasing interest the lives of the villagers around him.
