Micky (Tuppence Middleton) is a fun-loving photographer, living a party lifestyle in London until a chance encounter with a childhood friend changes her world forever. Domenica (Alexandra Roach) is a quiet bank clerk who is withdrawn and socially awkward. To the annoyance of her D.J. boyfriend Jake (Aneurin Barnard), Micky is thrilled to be reacquainted with Do, embracing her old friend with gusto.
They decide to return to the tranquil French villa where they spent so many happy summers in their youth. However, tragedy strikes when a fiery explosion rocks the mansion, leaving Do dead and Micky badly burned with amnesia. Unable to even recall her own name, Micky undergoes extensive plastic surgery to fix the disfiguring burns she sustained and reads extracts from Do's diary to try to remember what happened.
Based on the novel Piège pour Cendrillon by Sébastien Japrisot.
