A little slow but I love ballet so it didn’t bother me. Surprisingly my husband, who doesn’t care for dance, also liked it. It is meticulously directed and photographed with a lot of background into the forces that framed Nureyev’s character. As people have mentioned, the last 20 are very taut. Well worth seeing.

Great movie about one of the most talented men of the twentieth century, the fabulous Rudolph Nureyev. Thrilling and educational.

The White Crow can be a tough film to watch because Rudolf Nureyev as a dancer was brilliant but his personal character and interior life often reflected the ugly side of one who has experienced a great deal of personal trauma from childhood.Despite knowing how the film will end it is surprising how suspenseful the ending turned out. One thing that comes out clearly in the film is how hard true freedom is to obtain in life. In this case a citizen in the Soviet Union but one cannot help draw parallels of our own time with abuses in our own country with the likes of James Clapper or a Jim Comey. The White Crow makes it clear if your are an outside and truly a person who wishes to live, speak, act and dance free you will be watched and become a person of interest by the state...A lesson that it does not take a Russia to create a Soviet Union.

Enjoyed this movie a lot. Didn't really know much about Rudolf Nureyev's story so this was a good introduction. Totally engrossing. I understand people having issues with the movie not paying enough attention to his sexuality, which I know is important, but the story still is fascinating. Loved the cinematography and the acting was on point. The scene where he defects is a so tense. Good movie.
