The Thorn in the Heart
From 1952 to 1986, Suzette Gondry passionately performed her calling as a school teacher in various rural schools in the region of the Cevennes, France. Today, her nephew, filmmaker Michel Gondry, accompanies her to the places where she worked, and films her reunion with former colleagues and students. Throughout this nostalgic journey, the retired teacher recalls her marriage with her late husband, and her conflicted relationship with her son Jean-Yves.
