This film looks at the lives and works of three men: Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsburg, and William S. Burroughs. Their poetry and prose came to be known as "the Beat generation" and was reflected in feature films and television shows where everyone from Bob Denver in the TV seriesThe Many Loves of Dobie Gillis to Alfred Hitchcock could be seen making light of the movement.
Intercut throughout the film are citations by Depp, Hopper and Turturro, from the major works of the authors (On the Road, The Naked Lunch and Howl).
