loved it! loved it! loved it! I saw the Phantom live on stage in Indianapolis Indiana and Ontario Canada. Just saw the movie and fell in love with the Phantom again! What a beautiful love story, what a great movie!!!!!!!! Well done..........
I love The Phantom of the Opera... it has enspired me to take my highschool band to a perfessional level... if the play was ever to come back into toronto, I would do my hardest to earn a position in the orcastra! The music is absolutely overwelming and mind consuming... as well has the phantoms voice! <3 Gerand I believe, sings better then Michael does... probably because I prefer deeper voices. Although, Gerrand can hit the extremely high notes with more ease then Michael could. Long story short... I love this movie! The actors were picked out perfectly... although I dislike the Raoul character in general XD the actor who did his part...
Incredible Movie.
Absolutely captivating. The best movie I have ever seen. I can`t stop thinking about it. I went to see it two days in a row and can`t wait to see it again. It is the most beautiful movie that I have ever seen. I am going to buy the book.
I took my 13 year old grandson and he loved it. I had seen it on B`way and loved the music but now understand the story better.
I thought it was very romantic and I am very glad that I saw it. I have never seen opera before and i was thrilled by this excellant film production. I would recomend this movie to everyone of all ages. It really touched me.
I along with so many have seen this movie more than once. It is a beautiful film that seeps inside your heart and stays with you. Michael Crawford without a doubt has a wonderful voice yet, he does not sing with the emotion and passion that Gerard Butler does. This is a wonderful film and very much worth seeing. The critics need to put a mask on it.They are obviously void of any emotion or concept of what is truly a great movie. One has to ask "how did they get their jobs?" It boggles my mind to think that anyone would criticize the work of Andrew Loyd Webbers or his judgement. See the movie. You will not be disappointed.
oh my god! This is the best movie I have ever seen. I saw the play twice and was so excited when the movie came out. I bought the soundtrack and have been listening to it nonstop. I recommend this movie to evryone even if you dont like musicals you will love it. Gerard butler is so hot!!
This movie could not have proved people more wrong! A good movie is not that difficult to make. Phantom has proven that music, costumes, and wonderful actors do a movie make! I LOVED IT !!
Loved it! super! Phantastic! Bravo,Bravo,Bravissimo!!! (*****)
i saw the movie 2 times and will buy it when it comes out. i loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
As I never had the opportunity to see the broadway show, and this movie pulled through. I went with people who had seen the show and they said it was fabulous as well. My girlfriend and I went last night, and now we`re going again this afternoon! Loved Gerard Butler.
JUST THE BEST MUSICAL,MOVIE!!!!!!!REALLY REALLY PRETTY !!!!!!!
the phantom of the opera is the work of pure genius I enjoyed it very much
BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!i`ve seen it three times and want to see it again!!!!!!!!!i order u to see it!!!!!!!!
I LOVED the Phantom!!! I thought that is one of the best movies of all time. Gerard Butler did a great job as the Phantom!
I saw the theatre version with Michael Crawford in London (lucky me) and Anthony Warlow in Australia (even luckier), so POTO had become a musical favourite of mine, and I was looking forward to seeing the movie, albeit with some minor apprehension that it would not measure up to the theatre version, and minor curiosity as to who would have the parts. I finally saw the movie about a decade after I first saw the show in the theatre, and I was absolutely blown away from the moment that chandelier was hoisted up to a spine tingling orchestral opening. And I was not one jot disappoined, and in fact enjoyed the movie more than the theatre versi
I never got to see the broadway show, this is a replacement of some sort!!
It is wonderful movie very touching and moving about love, rejection. How Christine had to choose between the dark side and true love.
In the early 90`s I was privileged to see Michael Crawford`s live performance in POTO. Having been a fan of all things "Phantom" from the first time I saw the classic with Lon Chaney...I was unprepared for the impact the stage production would have on me. The music and visuals wound around my heart, leaving me breathless as Michael pulled in every audience member with his controlled, sensual, and hypnotic portrayal. When talk arose about the film version, I could not imagine who could ever hope to fill Michael`s mask...or who would have the guts to reinvent the iconic figure Crawford created. I entered the movie theater excited and nerv
It is my new favorite movie of all time!! The movie is simply beautiful! The performances are amazing, especially Gerard Butler!
This was the first phantom of the opera that i had ever seen, and it was amazing!!! I can`t stop thinking about it, it has been a month and i`m still singing the songs. I had never heard of gerard butler before the phantom, he was amazing and handsome, I think that we`ll all be hearing more of him soon!!
my granddaughter who is 14 has not stopped talking or singing the soundtrack since last Saturday. We loved it.
It`s great to see such a revival of musicals on the big screen. Bravo! Bravo! Phantom was true to the Broadway play. When the opening theme came on it sent shivers down my spine! Even though I knew the plot, it was a treat to see and hear. It is nice to see that Hollywood did not make it a horror movie, but a hypnotic love story with a moving and powerfull cast. I recomened it to the young and old Phantom Phans. A note to Hollywood do not try to make a movie about "Cats" that would suck.
OMG!!!! this was by far my favorite movie of all of them, this showed the compassion the Phantom showed tward Christine yet he was misunderstood. Gerry was FANTASTIC!!!! and to all you NEY sayers.....you would have to be completely and uterly heartless to think this movie was a waste of your time and money, it is your opinion but this was the most increadible movie i have ever seen and i will allways love it and its meaning. i ¢¾ Gerry!!!!
Phantom was the best movie I have ever seen! Incredibly beautiful! I`ve seen it every week since it opened, and I hope to see it again and again! I loved it.
Spectacular Bring your whole family to this one, it`s a movie they`ll never forget. I predict it`s going to be a classic.
I wish it would open in more theatres. I had to go out of my way to see it and it was well worth the trip (and the $14 per ticket) but I want to see it again because it was the best movie I`ve seen in a long time!
Oh my gosh!!! The best movie I have ever seen. I can`t get enough of it. We all have seen it at work and plan to see it again and again. I`m wearing the soundtrack out already!
I was really disappointed with Phantom. I thought it was horrible: the characters were flat, their voices even worse. I was bored throughout the movie. Go see the play!
it`s the nicest movie i have ever seen. I LOVE IT!!!!!
This is the best movie I have ever seen. I love this movie and cannot keep thinking about it. I`m embarrassed to say how many times I have gone to see it in 2 weeks!!!! This movie pulls one in and does not let them go. I even purchased the CD right away and that is all I have listened to in two weeks - in the car - at work - at home etc. Everyone needs to see this movie. Gerard Butler is so fantastic as the Phantom. He brings a very passionate side to the phantom and he and Christine have a very sensual chemistry in this movie. I think between Emmy and Gerard this movie should have been rated much higher by the critics. The critics i
To the critic who thinks this was cheesy and the one who says packaging garbage i have to say ..SHAME ..SHAME on you who know nothing about musical movies and yet cast your stone. And by the way i think that Gerard Butler was the perfect Phantom ,Handsome, strong , mysterious affectionate and betrayed by the world , exactly how the phantom`s caracter was..To all of you i should suggest to go and read the real book before passing judgement.Your critics are unjustified and unfounded...
I think the critics have been irrealistic as always in theire opinion about this movie. After all it is us people who pay to see these movies who have to decide weather it`s worth spending our money and time.I was captivated by the colours and "the mise en scene" , the realistic staging of the opera house and the custumes as it was on that time in Paris and i was transported in the time and the story. The phantom role was greately portrated by Gerry, of the phantom`s caractere and feelings overall " BRAVO "to this actor for a job well done .The selection of the others players were justifid as was Emmy`s voice sweet and inocent for the role of C
This was truly one of the best movies I have ever seen. I have seen the stage production as well as must say that I thought the movie version was much more touching and romantic. I have already seen it twice and can`t wait until the DVD comes out!
Gerry is an amazing phantom.I came out the first time saying "Michael, who?" After my tenth viewing I am still agog over what a gorgeous film this is
I saw the live performance of Phantom seven times. As an artist, it became my `muse` and ignited my creativity. It was the first time I saw my own passion equalled. Hard to keep the flame burning, though, when circumstances in life continually blow it out! As for the film version, as I watch it years later, I`m thrilled to find that the same passion is once again revived. How nice that one day I will have it on dvd, to be inspired over and over again. One thing that needs mentioning, as beautiful as the film is, the most remarkable image was towards the end of the story as the Phantom, unmasked, anticipates Christine approaching him with the
This was one of the best films ever,in spite of what most critics wrote. Film critics are often envious when they encounter genius!
I loved this-- I have the original Broadway soundtrack, but have never seen the play. I was mesmerized the entire time. The theater was packed-- (on a monday night!) and you could have heard a pin drop the whole time. This was a fantastic movie that I could see over and over again. Visually, and Musically stunning!
The best movie musical ever.
Fantastic! Should win Oscars for the three leads and for best picture!
very good screen version, although i thought that gerard butler was miscast as the phantom - the role called for a stronger, darker voice to match the character...however, i did enjoy it, and would recommend it highly
I would take the Phantom, Gerry, as my own......
This movie was sooo cheesy.
AMAZING!! I still loved the live theater version more, but this comes too close to 2nd to measure. It touched me just as much as the live version, without the feeling live singing gives you. It makes me want to see it live again.
Repackaged garbage!
OMG , AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING..I LOVED IT, the phantom was Gorgeous, i wanna go see it again, if u havent already seen it, what are u waiting for? you won`t regret it , even if ur not a fan, it doesn`t matter, i wasn`t a fan either, but after the seeing the movie, i`m completly drawn to the whole theme..go do urself a favor, and see it..
This is a powerful theatre version! Bravo, Bruckheimer!! I can`t believe that Butler isn`t up for `Best Actor`. His performance leaves the audience wondering why Christine chose Raoul. The movie was so compelling, I went out the next day to purchase the book. I completed it withing 6 days, gathered my children together and took them to see it. They`re 16, 14, and 12 - all thoroughly enjoyed it and recommended it to their friends. Now that`s something isn`t it? Three teens who loved a hollywood version of an opera! My daughter wants to see it again and insists on paying the way this time. The set is breathtaking, the performances - stellar.
I have seen the movie twice now and have the CD and waiting for the DVD...It is absolutely haunting. The quality of the acting ..scenery was fabulous and of couse the music riveting...
