Duncan, a 14-year-old farm boy, mourns his mother's death and takes comfort in wearing her fur coat to bed and mimicking her voice at the dinner table. Duncan's father doesn't understand and can't sympathize with his son, so he sets new, strict rules in order to turn the boy into a man.
