academy award winner? I think so. Kings speech rules

User review rating: 5 January 13, 2011

First rate acting and script. I don't get why lame movies like Little Fockers beats it at the box office except that it reflects what a bunch of yahoos think is a good movie.

User review rating: 5 January 13, 2011

The King's Speech is not only the best film of 2010, but quite possibly the best film of the last 10 years. Oscars are certain to abound.

User review rating: 5 January 13, 2011

excellent movie...touching and funny, superb acting

User review rating: 5 January 13, 2011

Don't know why more theatres aren't carrying this movie. It is great.

User review rating: 5 January 13, 2011

I saw this film at Toronto International Film Fest in September and I loved it. The acting was superb from Colin Firth and I think Jeffrey Rush will win Oscar again for his role!

Truly amazing movie !

User review rating: 5 January 12, 2011

This is the best movie I've seen in years. I was visiting in another city when I went and there was actually audience applause at the end! The plot is simple, poignant and true. The acting is outstanding. I'd go again any time.

Incredible movie combining wit, humor, and emotion. A great look at the 1930's monarchy that I did not know about before. The actors brought the characters truly to life and the chemistry between Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter was phenomenal. I'll see it again for sure. Shoo ins for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor I think.

who sat here and rated this movie over and over 5 stars, it was 8th at the box office for a good reason, not that great. no way 691 ratings haha

User review rating: 5 January 12, 2011

The movie was enthralling with superb acting. I didn't want it to end. The anguish was heartfelt along with the joy of success.

If Colin Firth isn't at least nominated for a Best Actor Oscar, I'll... I'll... do something to indicate my supreme incredulity! Fantastic performances by him, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter (took me about ten minutes to realize she was playing the Queen Mum!). DEFINITELY watch!!

absolutely a breathtaking film...the performances by Firth and Rush were amazing - they carried the film through the story. Simply one of the best films I have ever seen.

One of the best movies I've seen in quite a while. Acting is well done and believable. Firth and Rush act very well together.

It was a great movie

I truly enjoyed watching this film. I also would be surprised if Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush do not win Grammys for their performances

Best movie I have seen this year. Good story and great acting.

Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush are a brilliant duo. The theater crowd applauded at the end of our viewing -- that's got to tell you something. The King's Speech is a real contender this award season!

This movie was wonderfully uplifting. I certainly empathized with the King. Tears were running down my face when he gave his war speech.

Excellent movie

User review rating: 5 January 11, 2011

Surprisingly wonderful. Lionel Logue is a wonderful character excellently played by Geoffrey Rush, showing how he with the use of his experience created a king who no longer stuttered but connected to his subjects.

User review rating: 5 January 11, 2011

Definitely the best movie of 2010 and Colin Firth - best actor for sure. Great acting, fabulous historical drama - recommend for everyone 10 - 90+.

User review rating: 5 January 11, 2011

A wonderful film featuring two actors at the top of their game. The audience applauded at the end, which you don't see very often at the movies.

User review rating: 5 January 10, 2011

Don't let the title throw you off. Great story.

User review rating: 5 January 10, 2011

wonderful movie about anger, redemption, familial pressures and determination - -as well as friendship....just a joy to watch

Wow!!! What a great movie at the end we didn't know if we should get up and clap brilliantly done

User review rating: 5 January 10, 2011

What a great story. Love Colin Firth...I hope he wins an Oscar.

one of the best done movies in a long time

User review rating: 5 January 10, 2011

a magnificent film about life, responsibility, family and determination.....Colin Firth gives a breathtaking performance..one of the best film, if the not the best, of the year

User review rating: 5 January 10, 2011

Colin Firth is one of those actors who takes on someone else skin. I think the movie was amazing. Not only brought me to tears but also my stoic partner...No small feat...Kudos..

It was not only a brilliant film, it surprised me by being not only touching and clever, but funny as well. It is well worth the cost of admission.

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

I loved this movie! It made you laugh, made you cry, and had some great life lessons for all, such as even those in prestigious positions have their own obstacles to overcome! An Oscar contender for best picture, best actor, and best supporting actor/actress!

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

A must see.

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

i can understand the Oscar 'buzz' around this movie. The acting is superb. Colin Firth really loses himself in the role of a man who is not trained to be a king. Both poignant and funny at times, he has a perfect foil in the guise of Geoffrey Rush.

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

One of the best movies I've seen in the past year! Geoffrey Rush demonstrates an almost flawless character combination of wit and calmness.

I am not really in history so not my type of movie and I am really not into the Royal Family so You can see why it was Not for me

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

This was truely a movie worth watching. Nice to se others struggle towork through things

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

It was very believable. The actors played their roles quite well. Because I am a fan of royalty, it was good to get a glimpse into such a turbulent political time for George VI. Linda

My husband and I saw this movie with the expectations it was going to be wonderful and we were not disappointed. Colin Firth did an amazing acting job, at times it seemed like he wasn't even acting, he was the King of England. No one makes films like the Brits.

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

Serious, historical, but yet amusing as well. There were points I laughed out loud. Colin Firth does an phenominal job; you can see the anquish and frustration in him.

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

This was a great movie about a piece of history that I knew nothing about. I really enjoyed Colin Firth's performance.

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

I appreciate the acting of Colin Firth, and Derek Jacobi. The English generally are less showy actors and more into the craft of acting than the goofy Hollywood-types. More interesting and more real.

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

Absolutely deserving of WINNING an Oscar for sure!

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

Exceptional movie, fabulous cast, outstanding character roles, best movie in years.

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

We loved this movie! Funny, heartfelt and well acted!! One of the best we have seen in a while!

User review rating: 4 January 09, 2011

All three main characters played their roles exceptionally. The eye for detail was goo.d

User review rating: 5 January 09, 2011

A true insight to the Royal Family that allows us to see that no one is immune to struggles. The story was well written and the actors were incredible!
