Must see Oscar gold! Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush bring heart and soul to this touching and moving true life story of fear and friendship. Gives new understanding to Queen Elizabeth's character and the British monarchy!

User review rating: 4 January 28, 2011

Geoffrey Rush was excellent. Not sure I would give Colin's stammer 100%. Great for reminding you of history i.e Edward and Mrs. Simpson

In addition to having enjoyed watching this movie with the company of my grandmother Celine, who was around during the reign of the King, I truly believe that such an epic film is worthy of being one of the best films of the past decades. All the actors were brilliant, and there was a perfect balance of seriousness, humour and history, supported by a fantastic sound track and great cinematography. I loved this film. By far my favourite film of 2010. Sami

An excellent movie. Kudos to Colin Firth. Not an easy role to play.

User review rating: 5 January 27, 2011

The movie was amazing. I so enjoyed it. The acting and the chemistry between the actors was brilliant. There was a story line, that didn't involve car chases or blood etc. Proving that it can be done. Swearing was done in context to the story not just as common language.(which is very rare) All the actors deserve an award. Bravo

one of those rare movies that hope will never end because you are enjoying it so much.

If it wasn't based on a real story then it wouldnt be as good but the actors were really great

Finally a movie for intelligent people. Colin Firth does an excellent job in his portrayal of the King and Geoffrey Rush is dynamite. Well done by all! Highly recommend this movie for serious movie goers.

Excellent show. It started a little slow, but that was the development of the characters that made it so great as a whole. Thoroughly enjoyed the performances of all the actors. It was well cast

Moving, sad, funny, uplifting - my favourite movie of the year. I have seen it three times and will definitely purchase the DVD when it is released. It deserves a Best Picture win.

User review rating: 5 January 27, 2011

The King's Speech is the best movie that I have seen in years. Colin Firth should win the Oscar for best actor given his absolutely amazing acting.

User review rating: 5 January 27, 2011

best film i've seen for awhile.great acting.

Slightly too sentimental, but 'feel good' movie. Colin Firth is outstanding in the role of Bertie - it is really hard to imagine that he won't get the Oscar for best actor. Helena Bonham Carter is good (certainly visually beautiful. Geoffrey Rush disappointed me a little although I am a big fan - his 'Australian' accent sounded more like an American one to me.

I just loved this movie, the plot, the acting everything was just wonderful. I have always liked Colin Firth, he is great in romantic, comedy and more serious movies like The King's Speech. Definately a 5 star.

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie but felt that the use of profanity by the Duke of York/King was overdone and since not required in excess, did not add to the plot.

This is one of the best movies I have seen! Incredible story and amazing cast. Very moving and inspiring. I will be going to see it again.

I was born in England, knew the King had a stutter. I however did not know what all he went through to overcome the habit. Saw this movie with my 22 year old granddaughter (she was the only person under 50 in theatre). It was one of the best I have seen in a long time.

I was not excited about seeing this movie. I thought it would be boring. I was wrong. I did not want this movie to end and found it interesting and engaging. Colin Firth deserves the best actor oscar.

User review rating: 5 January 27, 2011

In a word OUTSTANDING! It brings to life a little known part of British History. The acting and script were first rate. It is said that the best musical score is the one you don't pay attention to while watching the film; this is true in King's Speech.

User review rating: 4 January 27, 2011

Brilliant acting which captures the conflict and tension giving birth to an implausible but real friendship despite differences of class, expectations, and reputation. Over acclaimed as a true story based upon real life events - the time-line and emphasis have been considerably refocused for dramatic emphasis and purpose. It's a movie, not a history lesson.

THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE SEEN IN YEARS!! Firth and Rush were perfect for the roles. A true Gem that deserves the Oscar for sure!!

User review rating: 5 January 27, 2011

Amazing movie! I love the history about King George VI and now I want to read and learn more about that era. Loved it!!

User review rating: 5 January 27, 2011

It's nice to be totally engulfed in a move just by acting and storyline without the movie having to use effects and cheap cliche situations to sell tickets.

great movie

User review rating: 5 January 26, 2011

I couldn't believe that this movie was as good as it was. The acting is AMAZING, and totally made the movie. The story is good - an interesting and largely unknown bit of royal history - and the movie is great because of how the actors told the story. I found myself tearing up in places for no reason except for how affectual the delivery of the script was, something I've never really experienced before. Totally recommend this movie.

This is the second time I’ve seen this movie in a week and I love it just as much as when I saw it for the first time. Colin Firth plays King George VI and Geoffrey Rush) plays Lionel Logue in a funny yet true story of a King George VI and his struggle with a stammer. King George VI had struggled for years with a stammer. Having tried numerous treatments King George VI wife find a gentleman that specializes with speech defects. The bond and trust that is built between these two men is remarkable. Colin and Geoffrey were amazing. The chemistry between the two men is what makes this movie. Take a stroll back in time and enjoy a movie that showcased a unexpected friendship that lasted a lifet
