Great movie. I really enjoyed it!
A very good movie. Based on a true story , a book written in 2009 by Sherman and Tougias and interviews with surviving members of the incident. From the photographs at the end of the movie, some of the actors look quite a bit like the real people they portray. Acting all-around spotless. Good leads for the two primary roles of the coast guard man in charge (Chris Pine) and the tanker's man in charge (Casey Affleck). A well-filmed historical drama portraying the bravery of the US coast guard in what is arguably one of the most daring rescues ever made.
I enjoyed the movie very much. It was a true testament to the heroism of the coast gaurds under impossible circumstances.
We saw this film in 3D and it was a wild ride. The Finest Hours is the gripping, true story of the valiant attempt to rescue the souls huddling inside the broken halves of two ships. Coast Guard cutters raced to the aid of those stranded and when it became apparent that the halves of the tankers were in danger of capsizing, the Coast Guard sent out two thirty-six-foot lifeboats as well. These wooden boats, manned by only four seamen, were dwarfed by the enormous seventy-foot seas. As the tiny rescue vessels set out from the coast of Cape Cod, the men aboard were all fully aware that they were embarking on what could easily become a suicide mission. A great film, for all audiences.
What a fabulous film ! Based on a true story, the spellbinding tale is overflowing with breathtaking scenes that sear themselves into the mind's eye, as boats capsize, bows and sterns crash into one another, and men hurl themselves into the raging sea in their terrifying battle for survival. The story is told by two masterful storytellers, Michael J. Tougias and Casey Sherman. Together they have seamlessly woven together their extensive research and firsthand interviews to create an unforgettable tale of heroism, triumph, and tragedy, one that truly tells of the US Coast Guard's finest hours. A definite ‘must-see’ film for all.
I really enjoyed the screening of The Finest Hours based on a true story. The film was amazing. The specials effects are very fascinating; especially in the middle of the ocean showing the waves jumped by this little boat or vise versa. Usually, I don’t really like movie in 3D but this one was absolutely astonishing for me. Congratulations to the actors! Thank you to Tribute for this advance 3D screening.
This movie captures the power of nature, the terror it can evoke in us, and the strength and selflessness it brings out in many. You can almost feel the waves pounding you, and the cold, salty spray relentlessly chilling you to the bone. An emotional ride to the end.
The Finest Hours was a very enjoyable movie that had everything a good movie should ... suspense, drama, action, and a little romance thrown in too. The only negative thing, if there was any, was some parts were slow and predictable, but can't really fault it too much since it was based on a true but heartwarming story. Worth the watch in 3D on the big screen!
I found that the images of the film was very dark in regards to the actual lighting of the sea scenes. I feel. Like they were attempting to try and create a titanic love story combo and it really doesn't work . If it wasn't for the special effects with the storming of the waves this could almost be like a tv movie of the week.
One of the best movies I've seen in a very long time! I spent a good portion of the movie on the edge of my seat and then had to take 5 minutes after the movie to collect myself! Amazing!!!!
Both an interesting and exciting film that really got to the emotions of the audience. The filming was excellent providing a very realistic feeling of the virtual hopelessness of the crew's plight - both of the rescuers and of those to be rescued. I purposely did not read about the actual historical event until after seeing the movie because I wanted a blank slate and nothing to compare the movie to - I was not disappointed. It kept me on the edge of my seat with clenched fists and sweaty hands until the end - a must see!
I thought this movie was incredible! Great cast! Loved it!
Very action packed, edge of your seat! Loved Chris Pine's accent in this movie. Thank you so much for the tickets.
It was amazing, had me on the edge of my seat and the 3d makes it come alive so much more, frightening but exhilarating at the same time. What an amazing movie, great cast, great acting. Thank you so much. I will see it again as it moves so quickly you miss things, definitely a buy movie when it comes out. And since its based on a true story it makes it much more real.
I really enjoyed The Finest Hours. It was a story of true heroism in the face of impossible odds. The special effects were amazing and the cast was superb. I will recommend this movie to everyone.
Novel script based on a real life story set in the era when my parents met, went to dances and were engaged. Love the fella's gal and her name! The 3-D made the action of the waves on the stormy sea very real and scary to experience.
The Finest Hours was very suspenseful and a good telling of a courageous story. We enjoyed it very much. We were honoured to attend the showing with members of Canada's Coast Guard.
This was a great movie that held my interest from start to finish. A good mix of edge of your seat, intense scenes with romance thrown in for good mix.
The movie started out slow, but soon escalated in its intensity.
Finest Hour was an intense, engaging movie. Knowing that it was going to be a good outcome made it easier to watch. My profile should be changed to Anna Tsui, not Jamie Lee, that is name of my daughter
I enjoyed every bit of this movie!! Great movie, a must see!!
This was a great movie!! I would recommend everyone see it, Disney did a great job!!
I did not enjoy the movie at all. Quite surprising that is was as bad as it was. :(
I found the first 10-15 minutes a bit slow and needed more to get you interested. Once the main plot was introduced my mom and I were riveted. I was invested in the characters especially knowing that their fate wasn't just in the writer's mind but what really happened to these people. main female lead was forgettable but Chris Pine and others were great
I give it 5 Stars, it had all the action that I like, and it keeps you on the edge, not wanting to miss a thing, I think everyone will like this movie
It was Amazing !!! We became close to the characters and lived the experience with them - the scenes were beautifully shot and so intense - everyone left the movie drained of emotion - very well done !!!
The story captured and kept my attention. Honestly, the acting was less than great, but I still enjoyed the film.
I loved The Finest Hours because it was so uplifting and restores one's faith in people kind! Great acting, great cinematography, great direction! Two thumbs up.
This movie went over my expectations, the movie was very well made and had my heart racing through the whole move. For me I went in not knowing it was a disney movie, it was very impress and this is a movie I would for sure want to see again. I believe the casting was very well done, the characters did look like the actual people and Chris Pine did an incredible acting job.
Very good visuals. Story is ok.
This was a great suspenseful movie with a love story. I really enjoyed the 3D in this movie. Chris Pine was fantastic.
Fine acting, great story, adventure and excellent cgi effects. This movie beat my expectations and has something for all members of the family. Really entertaining and is great in 3D!
Loved the movie and again many thanks.. had reservations about seeing it as I did not like "The Perfect Storm" but this was well done and I have no problem recommending this to anyone
As cute as Chris Pine is, the characters in The Finest Hours were the side story as they all try to triumph over Mother Nature. Great cinematography and music set the tone, capturing the terror of the merciless sea. Expect to be blown away in this adventure of man vs sea.
Finest Hour was a really exciting film. As a boater, found those scenes extremely realistic. It was also a beautiful love story. Really highlighted the dedication of first responders. I definitely recommend this film. The sound track was fantastic. Don't miss this film!
It was Awesome !! Lots of Suspense and Thrills. Made me feel as if I was on that boat, Wave after wave. Very Intense. I really enjoyed it.
Great cinematic scenes which I'm guessing look incredible in all the varying 3d options(we just need those glasses to not be shaded). The whole movie has an old-school feeling which I enjoy. Casey Affleck turned out to be the most intriguing character, which surprised me. I'm a fan of his but I'm also used to him being pushed to the background a little more. This time it was Ben Foster's turn to be underused. Overall I really enjoyed watching the men battle nature and waiting to see who would win out.
Stunning. It picked you up and never put you down. An incredible emotional roller coaster ride. You couldn't separate yourself from the crew; it's as if you were there with them. A powerful film. One not to be missed.
The movie was great, kept you on the edge of your seat.
Great movie with the feel of old Hollywood blockbusters . The acting was inspiring , and even the actors chosen looked like the real people profiled at the end of the film . My wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed the movie . We would recommend this movie to everyone ( All ages ) .
My husband and I both enjoyed The a finest Hours throughly. The actors were wonderful and engaging. The history was fascinating and the ocean and ship scenes were terrifying. Good job.
A thrilling and thoroughly enjoyable film, full of great effects and performances! Was on the edge of my seat. Go see it on the big screen!
Inspirational family movie with a great story and fine acting. The Finest Hours had lots of drama and adventure and good music soundtrack. I liked the actors, especially the female lead. The credits at the end where they showed the true life heroes was a nice touch.
The human interest story is not new and has been seen many times. However, the ocean scenes are very well done and certainly provide the spence of menace and chaos the ocean is capable of . Some scenes were literally heartpounding and edge of your seat movie making. Having said this, some issues which seem to be a constant with disaster films-when there are important and heroic speeches the wind miraculously dies off and the sea stops pounding for the length of the speech! As well, some characters end up in the icy seas and yet seem not to suffer from hypothermia!
I enjoyed it thoroughly. It built up to the action and then kept you engrossed.
It was a little slow at the very beginning but once it gets going, we were so into the movie. We totally enjoyed the movie and this is a wonderful family movie. Love the old photos at the end of the movie.
I was very pleasantly surprised at The Finest Hours. The beginning was a bit slow as they set the scene and storyline, but I was thoroughly engrossed as the pace advanced. Casey Affleck is all grown up and believable as the unwilling hero of the torn oil tanker. Eric Bana is easily disliked as the guy who sends the small crew out in wretched weather for a rescue mission. Chris Pine, looking 10 years younger, is pretty good as Bernie Webber, the rule-abiding US Coast Guardsman sent on a 'suicide' mission to seek and rescue the crew of the stricken tanker SS Pendleton in one of the worst winter storms ever seen. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone. Much more entertaining than 'Oscar contending' The Revenant.
The finest hour was full of action and kept my attention the whole. Loved this movie!
WOW what a wonderful movie. I went with a girlfriend and she felt the same way. We both had tears running down our face at times, felt almost like I was experiencing the storm myself. Everyone clapped at the end of the movie (and that doesn't happen too often). Certainly will and already have recommended this movie to other friends. A big THANK YOU for the opportunity to see this sneak preview.
The movie was wonderful, the captain had a do or die attitude saving those lives including his own. It was his job to rescue as many as possible & he did a darn good job. It was extremely tense for me & my partner because of the condition of the storm.
