If you DIDNT read the book, it was great. A bold attempt at fitting the book into a 2 hour movie. I liked it just fine, if you read the book and hated the movie; that`s natural. Same goes for LOTR and Harry potters, book>movie, but the movies are just fine for us non-reading folk
Yeah..pretty bad acting...too bad. I was disappointed. Some of the things that were interesting in the book didn`t even make the movie.
Well, like everyone on the planet (including my non-reading husband), I read the book (I read it twice). The book was superior over the movie. I felt disappointed in the actors` performances (wooden and boring), including Tom Hank`s lackluster performance. The only real standout was Ian McKellan. What an anti-climactic event when I had been anticipating the movie for months.
i thought it was an awesome movie well done and very much sticked to the book minus few lil things well done
THIS MOVIE IS ALL FICTION..NONE OF IT IS FACTS. JESUS WAS NOT MARRIED TO MARY...THERE IS NO NEED FOR PEOPLE TO BE GOING CRAZY OVER IT...BUT JUST DUNT LET IT CHNAGE UR MIND FRM WATS RIGHT AND DATS BELIEVING IN GOD AN DKNOWIN JESUS CHRIST IS STILL UR SAVIOUR.
I thought it was great ! Movies are never as good as the book any way you cut it. It was very entertaining and although there wasn`t much chemistry between Langdon and Sophie in the film I think all the characters were perfectly cast.
An hour too long and boring mostly
Don`t listen to the critics. If you loved the book, you will love the movie!!!
just a movie...relax people..no one say the movie is true. anyways that`s a great movie.
One viewer speculates that the Church excludes women from the priesthood because men wrote the history. This shows a profound misunderstanding of what the priesthood is and how it continued the all-male Jewish priesthood. The priesthood of `Melchisedech` derives from the apostles and it was Christ Himself who named twelve men as the only apostles. I could add much more. Don`t be like Brown: research before you stake claims.
Don`t bother going to see this film. It`s garbage. Much better to rent Narnia on d.v.d. Now there was a film worth seeing.
Do you know why people can go see Star Wars and their suspend disbelief long enough to accept a giant `Chubaka` bear-man? Because it`s just a movie! Put the sacred cows away for the night - suspend your disbelief, and enjoy this movie. It`s well made, well acted, full of suspense, a little budding romance, and maybe you`ll even learn something new. What more can you ask for?
To me what made Da Vinci Code (the book) so captivating, is the discription and interpretation of historical artworks, symbols, and events. Take that away and you`re left with the movie. I realised that the actual plot is rather thin when you take a step back and look at the whole picture, but in ernest i expected the whole production to figure out that there was a lack of substance when all the symbology was watered down...i had high hopes for this movie, and i guess it wasn`t a bad sunday afternoon when i went to watch it. but don`t waste a friday or saturday night with it.
This is a book that should have NEVER been made into a movie.
meh.. the book was ALOT better
men in church) rewrote history to allow a male dominated church... why do you think that women cannot be elevated to the order of priesthood, that is directly linked with Jesus... but enough said. Watch it with an opened mind. The world is filled with mysteries can be taken a plausible, myths or hoax. It`s up to every individual`s faith in human nature but realistically through discernment is everyone able to see and seek the truth, which is different for everyone, has everyone has their own experience: which makes history.
The movie is as if they put the book on steroids. Was not as good as I was expecting. 3/5.
best movie of the year so far!!
Great movie! Just great!!!!
The most boring movie I`ve ever seen. Save your time and money
Great movie! Christians should stop freaking out...it is just a movie. Everytime there is a movie about Christ, ppl keep freaking out. You think that your religion was the only one ever poked at in a movie. Jeez.
I saw the movie last night and it lived up to my expectations, having a religious background and studied the myths and facts of underground societies; also having read the book twice before, I think that Dan Brown and Ron Howard projected the essence of the book in a very faithful way. From goosebumps to laughter this movie kept me at the edge of my seat. It is a movie, but being controversial as it is; it allows the open-minded viewers to ask themselves some questions about history that are in most cases, taken for granted. Someone said once: "History is written by the victor", in itself applied to this movie would mean that St-Peter (men
I had very high expectations for this movie and found it to be quite disappointing; the book was much better. To those who have NOT read the book, you might get a little confused; this movie was definitely geared to those audiences who had actually read the book. The movie was also not as fast-paced and got a tad bit boring during some parts. I realize that it is difficult to capture the same emotions one feels whilst reading the book and translate it unto a movie, but hey, Harry Potter managed it pretty well, did it not? Anyway, Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon??? Totally wrong; I pictured a more handsome, not-balding, strong looking fellow (i.e.
This movie was very good! For those of you who haven`t read the book. It keeps you thinking!
WORST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!! SAVE YOUR $$$
AWESOME....just like the book
boring as hell
As a christian, I really enjoyed this movie a lot! I honestly don`t think this moive will affect my religious belief. What I truly believe is "God" not who was around him.
OMG!! The movie was so boring. I literally watched the movie for about 20 minutes and fell asleep. This is a horrible movie and way too long. Come on, 2 1/2 hours! 20 minutes of this movie was more treacherous than watching all of the lord of the rings movies. And the movie is fiction not fact! This movie has been "hollywoodized" and does not deserve to be seen. I have the book and it is long as well. And when I saw that Tom Hanks was Robert Langdon, I was dissappointed because I envisioned a much youthful symbologist. The storyline was also way too confusing. I couldn`t even understand the 20 minutes of the movie, forget the whole movie. Thi
the book was better then the movie. but the movie wasnt bad. for all the people who are trying to tell others to boycott it then clearly you are closed minded. there is nothing wrong with hearing another view. if you are so afraid of what the book or movie talks about then you dont have a strong enough belief in your religion to begin with. if you cant question something about your religion then there is something wrong with it. the Da Vinci Code is worth the read.
One writer recently commented that everything in the film on Opus Dei is true. I don`t much like O.D. but that comment is rubbish. For example, there are no monks in Opus Dei, albino or otherwise. It is an organisation of lay workers and includes some priests but there are no monks, nuns, or friars. More importantly, O.D. does not try to kill off the Priory of Sion because there is no Priory of Sion. It was invented in the 1950s by a mentally-unstable man who also invented other fake societies in France.
This was a fun movie which does a reasonably good job of conveying the story and details in the book. It`s worth seeing.
this movie is probably the worst movie i have ever seen. bad performance, bad facts -- FACTS? All the stuff about Opus Dei is LIES, LIES, LIES! No Opus Dei member draws blood. I cannot believe this movie was allowed to be made!
What lies! What nonsense! Jesus was not married to Mary Magdalene! I cannot believe that the film studios allowed this movie to be made! Don`t believe this supposed "truth" everyone, it`s all ridiculous nonsense!
This movie was amazing. Not only was it as true to the book as it could be in 2h 30mins but the acting was just wonderful. Tom Hanks played Robert L. very well and, had they have gone for someone young, I don`t think one would be able to believe he was a scholar of such prominence. The casting all around was just great as were the visuals. Fan of the book or not it is something to see.
The movie was true to the book and it was a good movie. That is what people have to take it as a "MOVIE".
I enjoyed the movie. There were a few things added that didn`t need to be in it, but I think overall they tied up the book very well for 2 1/2 hours. It took me days to read the book!! So not every movie can have it all, can it?
Relax people, it`s just a blasphemous attack on Jesus Christ! Perhaps these characters will target Muhammad next. Priests and ministers should simply command their congregations to boycott this film. We live in a free country and everyone should be able to see it if they want. But that cuts two ways: everyone has a right to refuse to see it too and churches have a right to order their congregations to boycott it on pain of excommunication. This will worsen: it is a prelude to even worse attacks against Jesus, things not yet even imaginable.
I beg to differ towards one comment. The book IS marked Fiction, but it doesn`t say that the entire thing is based on facts. It says that the rituals and things such as Opeis Dei are based on facts. which is true. Evrything in the book about Opeis Dei is true, and the rituals. The author never said the entire Holy Grail thing was true. It`s just another look on the happenings of Christ. It`s just a movie people. I loved it.
The movie is a well done, it is a movie people, not a book so don`t expect a movie to reveal all the thoughts and emotions that you could read in the book. The actors were perfect for that movie, they played it well. The book was so well written that the images I had made of the scenes in my mind were exactly the same in the movie, which means to me that the movie reflects well what is in the book.
RELAX PEOPLE!!! IT`S JUST A MOVIE AND A GOOD ONE AT THAT!
It`s okay as a movie (better as a book), but totally not worth all the hype. Wait for the rental, or buy the book!!
tom hanks is perfect as robert langdon...that`s it..u should read the book...takes the same amount of time!! lol
It threts Religion! Ron Hourd did this mess? But he does such good stuff like The Grinch. Anyway, Don`t waste your time (oh, yagh, its too looooooooooooooooooooong) or money.
People argue about whether or not the film was true. The book is labelled as fiction but then goes on to claim that it is based on fact, which it is not. For example, there is absolutely no foundation to the claim tha the divinity of Christ was invented at Nicæa in 325. The book and the film are offensive to Christians regardless of whether or not they are meant to be true. The reason is that the suggestions are blasphemous. If anyone said these sorts of things about the Prophet Muhammad, Muslims would take up arms. I found it amusing that Muslims in India were the only people willing to stand up against this blasphemous film, on the gr
Really bad - lots of loose ends left untied at the end of the movie. Everything is rushed and a few key things from the book are left out. READ THE BOOK! PAN THE FILM!
This was close to the novel in many ways but i was dissapointed that it missed some parts from the book like the modonna, anywz i feel that you would enjoy this movie alot more if u did not read the novel. Worth renting if u read the novel!
Save your money , buy the book!!! never ever has there been a bigger massacare of such a great book .
I don`t know which movie the critics saw, but the movie I saw was A-1 excellent. One of the best movies of the year.
Great movie. I haven`t read the book so I didn`t have the comparison to bog the movie down like most other people. But when is the movie ever as good as the book anyway? I can`t think of any examples. All I can say is the story is incredibly interesting and the acting was very well done all around. Two thumb up!
