In 1960 Normandy, Mina, a sensible and beautiful housewife, seeks escape from her routine life by going to the movies with her teenage son Tommy. After they watch West Side Story, they are invited to have a drink at a dance hall by Matthias (Berling), a man who sat beside them in the theatre. When her husband finds work building a bridge and is compelled to stay away from home for the week, it allows the growing passion between Mina and Matthias to flourish.
