This was more of a made for TV movie. Robert P can’t carry a movie, not to mention a trilogy. Look what happened to Tenet. A total waste of three hours.
Kids in the theater began fidgeting early on in response to the feature's languid pacing and excessive length. The few people who remained through the end credits were sound asleep. On the bright side, there will be no "Patman Returns." DC just can't seem to get their act together. :(
Meteor Man had a cooler suit. Batman has sadly lost his mojo with this entry. What were they thinking?
It's Batman & Robin all over again. What a letdown!
Would love to see a “true” mystery or who done it for the great detective, but I guess then we would have a whole movie based on an unknown character and the hero vs villain is what all of these comic book genre movies are all about. With that said the mystery was there in many was and the Batman was a more broody and conflicted man struggling with his past, his present and who he sees himself to be. Liked that over the generic billionaire playboy with dual identity. Looking forward to whatever else is coming down the pipe.
Was a bit hesitant as nothing can beat the Dark Knight… So glad I went! Fresh take on a more grounded “reality” that has always drawn me to the Batman over other “super” hero characters. All around great cast, set design and cinematography. Long? Yes but did not feel like it was. Definitely will watch again.
SO GOOD! I loved Robert in this role. It’s a darker take which is super interesting and it’s nice to see some detective work in the film. I’ll be going to see it again in theatres asap!
It had the Batman being evil and he dressed like a thud the old movie had him dressing nice and had him helping people. It was not that good
Three hours is much too long for a film without a story.
Tired story, same old plots. Pass.
This new take on the Dark Knight is refreshing and breathtaking, no movie is without its flaws so understand the holes in the story plot and the lack of Bruce Wayne, but when it came to the cinematography, action, riddles etc. It captures what the fans truly love about Batman.
moves from scene to scene fast--characters are real not cartoonish Wish batman and catwoman had sex scene.
Amazing. People who don't like this movie obviously dont understand the art of filmaking and story telling. Batman is Dark, and also shows how he is the world's greatest detective. Most people dont understand this. I think the movie was great. Looking forward to the next sequels
loved it
This is a dark Batman and the picture is a bit grim. They made Batman a more disturbed super hero. The story line is good. A cartoon but not the Batman we grew up with. Even has a bit of love interest although never developed. Held my interest. New facts emerge about the life and times of a Batman. Try it, why it’s only got 2 stars here is a mystery to me..
While Pattinson fails to make much of an impression in the title role, it's the Rogues Gallery of Villains that have always determined the success or failure of any BATMAN feature, and Colin Farrell's Penguin is the movie's true trump card; his slippery crime lord harkens back to DeVito's inventive take on the character and then some. Likewise, Kravitz's sexy Catwoman proves a worthy successor to Halle Berry's iconic and unforgettable turn in the cat suit. Even Paul Dano's Riddler approaches the madcap menace of Frank Gorshin's legendary and definitive Prince of Puzzlers. It's unfortunate, then, that Batman himself is such a disappointment this time, as all the other pieces were in place for something special.
Seemed more like reality and not cartoonish.
There were times it felt like a tv-movie. C-
Was not sure what to expect after reading some of the Reviews and that non sense little 2.45 / 5. The Movie was well done and they did keep my attention until the end, The rating should be at least a 4 / 5.
What's with all the Nirvana references? Any goodwill I had towards this movie was quickly quashed by the ever-present drone of the film's pop soundtrack. Earplugs are a must if you absolutely have to see this at the theatre.
The Batman does what great movies of any genre are supposed to do: entertain. Added to that, there is a poignant love story. This movie deserves six stars!
Fun action packed superhero movie. Gorgeous cat woman.
An interesting experiment that just misses the mark. Should there be a sequel, Jaden Smith or Camila Cabello would be natural choices for Robin. If they go the reboot route, a third Burton-Keaton movie would provide a proper capper to that earlier, much-loved version of Batman, with the added bonus of Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter. 2/5
good
Everything
To those making excuses for the cheap-looking Bat suit: Bruce Wayne has more than enough money to build a state-of-the-art suit of armor, so either he or the Brothers Warner were extremely frugal with the costume this time. But don't despair, Bat fans -- think of this as a one-off as the series will no doubt right itself in the not-too-distant future.
Say what you want about Batman & Robin, it wasn't dull.
Kept waiting for something to happen, but it never did. Perhaps Denis Villeneuve can give fans a worthy Batman reboot once he finishes with DUNE...
Too long by half. Penguin and Riddler steal the show.
The second best Batman ever. Better than the vast majority of superhero films that are just too formulaic. It is a bit long, but in my view the length is not really noticeable because the story and acting are tours de force.
Acting was very good. Movie kept me on the edge of my seat! Lots of action, but really on the DARK SIDE -- murder, corruption and mental health. BATMAN A TRUE SUPERHERO FILM.
Once you realize that this Batman is only 2 years into the character..it explains why the Bat suit is pretty basic and there is very little technical gadgetry which made the previous Batman series so much more exciting and satisfactory..
They didn't give Andy Serkis anything to do, despite the protracted run time.
Pattinson's Batman was annoying in the same way Garfield's Spider-Man was: too many smart ass remarks (Batman is NOT supposed to be a comedian!) with a very off-putting, completely unfounded sense of superiority for any grown-ups in the room. Also, needed to be trimmed by about 90 minutes.
The Batman: a grim, film noir, focused on exploring the dark side of human greed, corruption, and murder. It’s a crime thriller, filled with broken characters, living inside a flawed city, run by anguished bureaucrats. Rain, darkness, and fog blankets Gotham with terror. This film is not for everyone. The Batman is an incredible achievement in cinema. 4.5 / 5 stars.
Multiple times, while watching, I thought about how well the actors were playing their roles. Solid film, with the riddles having layers.
Best batman yet. Not a lot of Bruce Wayne. But a lot of true Batman detective work! Great action!
Slow at times and long (3.5 hrs). Nonetheless, this was a very good movie and an excellent reboot of Batman. Can't wait until the next movie in the series.
I agree with the growing number of people expressing their distaste for what's come to be known as the "Pat Suit." It's hilarious and makes it impossible to take Pattinson's Batman seriously. The suit looks horrendous, as people have said. Horrendously cheap, too -- but that was likely mandated by the studio to keeps costs down.
The acting, good choice with this new Batman, loved all characters 👌
I was skeptical of Robert Pattinson as the Batman but I love hero movies. I was surprisingly entertained and I really liked the movie. I would recommend If you’re looking for a movie with super action this one has a song but is mostly backstory. And ask for the angst of this Batman you have to remember the show Gotham that was on TV. They turned from having Batman as the sophisticated awesome rich guy who helps people too this angst ridden dark character that has to overcome every obstacle in his life. When you realize this is the newer Batman’s and then you’ll get it. But they definitely have to stop with the rotating in new Batman‘s every freaking movie because you can never get into a character if every damn movie it’s a new freaking person different personality different look and a whole different feel. They need to start staying true to their selves and the character and stop making the character so miserable. Get back to what’s right and get back to the original.
Awesome
There's no mistaking the overtly lugubrious tone permeating the movie's taxing and bloated run time. A special prize should be awarded to all who manage to somehow stay awake all the way through...
I felt bad for Andy Serkis; what a waste!
The studio needs to rethink what it does with the property and retool before giving us another Batman. They let A LOT of fans down with this one. :(
Come to see it without expectations and you will be suitably impressed. A fresh and darker look at the world that The Batman occupies. Not as bright as other movies in this genre but that's also a bit boring. Have fun!
We didn't need another Batman so soon, and this one's pretty boring to be honest.
Its not a perfect movie but its a perfect batman movie
A minor entry in the series, quickly to be forgotten.
The Patman's no Batman.
