Every summer, the Yokoyama family reunites on the anniversary of the death of Junpei, the eldest son, who died 15 years earlier while rescuing a girl from drowning. The aging parents have lived in the family home for decades. Their son and daughter bring their own families with them for the day. Although the roomy house is as comforting and unchanging as the mother's homemade feast, everyone in the family has subtly changed.
