In 1954, 15-year-old Tamara Anderson (
Katie Boland) is tired of moving from place to place with her parents and siblings. They rent a rural farmhouse, and find out that the owners moved out after their 17-year-old son died in the home. Tamara is shocked at first when she finds out the boy died in her bedroom, but the family begins to settle in, making friends with the neighbors and learning how to milk the cow that comes with the place. But when their mother is diagnosed with tuberculosis and sent to a sanatorium to recuperate, the family begins to unravel.
