Dale Conti (Charlie Hunnam), a philosophy student and paramedic in Australia, commits armed robbery to feed his drug habit. He's incarcerated but realizes that he won't live long if he stays in prison. He plans a daring daylight escape and succeeds.
He obtains a passport under the name Lindsey Ford and travels to India, hoping to get lost in the crowds and avoid the authorities. Upon arrival, he meets street guide Prabhu (Shubham Saraf) who becomes his friend and helps him navigate his way through Bombay. One night, when Lin is robbed of all his money and his passport, he winds up living in a slum alongside Prabhu, where after seeing the dire need for medical attention, Lin becomes a doctor to his neighbors.
