All four of Claude and Marie Verneuil’s daughters married immigrants. Having overcome this "test," the middle-class couple now are retired and happy grandparents, when they suddenly find themselves facing a new threat: the possible departure of their daughters abroad, with their respective husbands. In Paris, their sons-in-law are constantly reminded about the color of their skin or their status as first- or second-generation immigrants. In an effort to prevent their daughters and their families from leaving, Claude and Marie employ various strategies, including hiring a bunch of locals to convince them about the advantages of living in France.
