Fred (Josh Ruben) is a struggling actor and writer. Suffering from writer's block, Fred rents a cabin in the Catskills mountain range to get away from any distractions. While out on a run, Fred meets Fanny (Aya Cash), who is staying in a nearby cabin. Fred learns that Fanny is the bestselling author of the book Venus, and now feels a little intimidated by her success.
Back at his cabin, Fred's power goes out due to a thunderstorm and Fanny comes by to see how he's doing. The two end up ordering pizza and share scary stories, showing off their storytelling skills. The pizza arrives and the delivery man (Chris Redd) joins in on the fun. Their story time begins to turn into a competition between Fred and Fanny about who is the better storyteller. Trying to one up each other, both authors become fully immersed in their stories, forcing Fred to face his fear of being an inferior writer.
