Originally from Belgium, a 30-year-old photographer named Auguste has lived in Montreal for nine years. His carefree existence comes to an end when his wife and his six-year-old daughter perish in a car accident and when, shortly after, his apartment goes up in flames.
Auguste thinks about suicide, but puts it off when he meets his new neighbor Isabel, who also works in photography. The young woman shares custody of her six-year-old daughter Leica with her ex-husband. As they get to know each other, Auguste and Isabel find comfort in each other’s friendship.
