disn't live up to its hype in my view. still a good movie if unbelievable in parts
not a great movie!
good movie. i would recommend this to a fan of the alien films.
the surgery scene is worth a star in itself. awesome.
disappointing when viewed in the context of the original alien series, but significantly better when looked at as a stand-alone film. buffeted by a wonderful performance by the hugely-talented michael fassbender as the android david, prometheus suffers from its grand scope. while it tries to reach the stars it falls just short, particularly with an open-minded, unresolved ending and a confusing back-story. the acting from noomi rapace as the lead heroin e is inspired and genuine, but scott seems to have fallen short of his potential in directing this highly-anticipated blockbuster.
i really enjoyed this one. i thought it was a very unique storyline and a good prequel to the alien movies. hopefully there will be another one.
good but dragged a bit half-way through
anticlimactic at best. characters are predictable and linear. disappointing.
nail biter.
i think some of you are half f**king retarded! if you've ever watched any aliens movies, you would know that the movie would be like this. go back to watching twilight or some shit like that!
gonna see it today, i think this should be very good if your an alien fan. might be slow but so was who's afraid of virginia wolf. a great movie.
great movie. michael fassbender and noomi rapace are both brilliant!! the visuals are amazing if not mindblowing in some scenes(surgery scene). go and see this movie!!
this movie is mediocre at best. i was super excited to see this movie based on the hype, as well as being a huge fan of the alien movies. what a letdown! the story is non-existant, the characters bland, and there is no real excitement in seeing it to the very end.
a truly horrible movie. bad writing to create a thrilling situations in movies is exactly what's wrong with action/sci-fi movies today. why would anyone travel across the galaxy with an uninformed group of yahoos and then bring an unknown specimen on board? the only way this movie gets more than one star is if the viewer is as dumb as the characters written into the storyline.
A good film overrated in my book but the breathtaking visuals alone make it worth the price of admission
forget it. a disjointed production. not even worth one star. a waste of money
the best prequel i have ever seen. perfectly meshes with the first alien and explains everything with flawless logic. too bad it took roughly 25 years to get here. it opens the door beautifully towards the end game. thanks for the experience.
hard to follow, logically inconsistent plot.
0 star! it's not good. the story and actors aren't good at all. do not waste your money. not even good if you like aliens. worse if you don't
don't bother!
started out good but then got a bit too silly.
started out good but then got a bit too silly.
this film had huge potential, but begins to fall apart in terms of creative story telling by about the first plot point (if there really were any). with such stunning visual effects and nicely done suspense building it is a shame that it was not complimented by stronger character builds and a nicely written script. it seemed as if director ridley scott was wavering between making an all out monster-horror flick like the original aliens and a more philosophical-sci-fi-adventure; then, in his abstinence for both, tried to make something in between stringing a loose storyline together which in a way went nowhere except to say "hey, this is where the 'aliens' aliens came from, yaaay." and leav
meh, nice-looking movie, but the plot and writing were terrible. i felt like i was watching a recent m. night shyamalan movie (and i don't mean that in a good way!). if you liked his recent attempts to "make you think", then you'd probably like this movie. but if you're like me and you just roll your eyes at movies that cheaply try to explain the origins of man (and beast), you probably won't like it either. and i'm neither an athiest nor a religious fanatic, so my comments have nothing to do with being 'offended' in some way by the plot - i was just plain bored.
excellent movie. loved the end. must see if you loved aliens.
instead of going to this movie just pull out your old version oa alien and watch it. it is a much better movie, much scarier, and the characterization is much better. there were only 3 of us in the theatre, and 1 of the guys feel asleep. if i could give it a 0 star rating i would.
rating: zero! the worst movie, i have ever seen, considering that i am 60 years old, that must be pretty bad. absolutely waste of time and money!
absorbing adaptation of mary shelley's modern prometheus.
worset movie ever
for the hardcore alien types this isn't enough but only a ‘tie over'...
maybe my expectations were too high but i found this movie a bit disappointing. it was slow and the ending was a bit unsatisfactory. there were a few good scenes though and it did set up for a sequel.
for those that didn't "get it".. well you need to appreciate that it is a perfect prequel to the first alien which scott directed. the other ones cameron took over. anyways, an amazing effort and worth seeing again. ps - if you're looking for a aliens ii kinda nonsense.. this is not it.
it was ok. not bad, not great. i have to admit the visuals were awesome and the acting was good but the story line was same old, same old.
this movie blow my mind with the scene at the end before the credits roll and the only other movie to blow my mind was inception.
same style as the original alien. sci fi beauty at it's best!
i gave it 5 stars because it was entertaining, a sci-fi mystery, connects in parallel the other earliest alien/aliens movies. it was visually very well done, as well as the sets and props, and the plot was [f.i.n.e] and it wasn't boring. however, it's weakness, like alien/aliens, is the premise for even being out in space with a bunch of third rate amateurs. (goons?). and plenty of nonsensical 'science' holes throughout. but, who cares? it's make believe anyway. it does leave a lot of open avenues, so it serves as a basis for sequels, whether any will be done or not.
so disappointing. not sure scott has even seen the first 2 alien movies. the plot was all over the place, acting weak and the action really disjointed. on top of that, it was boring. not sure where he got a concept for a facehugger the size of a kraken and lets not even mention the worst alien ever right at the end... if you're going to put a guy in a rubber suit, at least put some effort into it...
i thought the movie was nuts!!! i did not enjoy the it.
if anyone was wondering, here is the chronology of the alien and predator movies. the present 1987: predator 1997: predator 2 2004: alien vs. predator 2007: aliens vs. predator: requiem prometheus is a parallel story that begins before alien in 2093. the future 2122: alien 2178: aliens (56 years later) ? ? ? ?: alien 3 ? ? ? ?: alien resurrection (200 years later)
total crap. never rated a movie before, but had to warn you. just ridley scott recycling the meat of the alien story line with a weak broth. do all robots lose their heads in scott movies? if you're looking for a nice soporific couple hours with no plot, no acting and no thinking required, where humanity only sends morons out on trillion dollar missions - this movie is for you. too bad worst rating is 1 star.
one of the worst movies i have seen this year.. story all over the place nothing was explained. for those that think alien wasn't an action movie it was a thriller >>> the same as this one. the thing is thaugh is this movie was neither ... not thrilling and no much action. weak story line and prodictable characters. people walked out of the movie with not even a joyful expression of enjoying the movie. only reason i stayed was because i thought maybe something would be cleared up and not just empty dialogue with no real substance. i got out of there and had to see a good movie went to see avengers in 3d million of times better.
this movie was made to make you think as well as be entertained.this is for hardcore sci fi fans only! ridley scott has left more questions which is making people discuss more possible answers.he knows what he's doing & he's leaving more strong possibilities for another sequel.not worth shelling out extra coin for 3d though, you can admire it's beauty without the glasses.
you have to remember this movie wasn't intended to be an action movie like "aliens".this is a science fiction movie...scott said it would be differen't.i understand the frustration with people but if you wanted effects, meaningless story, then watch "battleship".the story was a bit frustrating to follow but it leaves the un answered questions to be answered in a sequel.scott already did a "monster" movie & wanted to go left on this,it's not easy coming up with something totally original to blow people away with, the man is still a genius but he should hire better writer's next time.
ridley scott is the best. this prequel does complete the movie alien but opens up too many possiblities in regards to further prequel's. the theme of space travel becoming more commerialized is currently happening in reality so be sure when you go you know who is in charge.
bad script along with acting and directing, hope the blu-ray version has extended cut otherwise...forget about it.
really enjoyed it. can't wait for the next one.
had a chance for great movie but ended up just ok. more of a horror movie then si-fi. most of movie was taken up by writters setting up for next segment ?
once again, a great-looking movie that doesn't have an original bone in its story! c'mon hollywood, hire some writers!! it's a shame that ridley scott's talents were wasted. here is what i saw: 10% alien, 10% mission to mars, 10% contact, 10% indiana jones part 4, 10% the fly, 10% the abyss...you get the idea. the only thing i didn't see was some percentage of originality!! grrr!!! go watch it for something pretty to look at, but not much else. did anyone else find the soundtrack distracting?
this movie is so awesome, it's retarded!
another summer movie that fails to live up to the hype.
