Irene, a professional escort who lives in a luxury hotel in Biarritz with her elderly lover, spends the night with Jean, whom she met one sleepless night in the deserted bar of the establishment. However, the young man, whom Irene thinks is a millionaire, is in truth just a modest hotel employee. The young woman finds out only after her provider, kicks her out due to her infidelity.
No longer interested in Jean now that she knows he’s a pauper, she leaves for Côte d'Azur. However, Jean is so passionately in love with her that he quits his job to follow her. To get rid of him, she makes him pay for all her expenses. But even when he runs out of money, he still wants to be with her and in order to travel in the same social circles, Jean himself becomes the escort of a woman in her sixties.
